Deshaun Watson @ NE $8,200
Deshaun Watson is one of the riskiest plays of the week, but his ceiling may be the highest. He’s hard to play in cash, but easier to take a shot on in tournaments and SuperFlex contests given his upside. Watson is making his first start since tearing his ACL on a non-contact play at practice. The Texans’ QB had a stellar first seven games in the NFL, throwing for 1,699 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 38.4 rushing yards per game. His 25.3 FanDuel points per game were higher than any other player last season. He has arguably the best wideout in the game in DeAndre Hopkins (led WR’s in touchdowns in 2017), and an explosive deep threat in Will Fuller. The Patriots allowed the third most passing yards last season and seventh most fantasy points to quarterbacks. This Texans-Patriots game also has the highest total of the week.
Cam Newton vs. DAL $8,100
There’s some value with Cam Newton, despite him having the fifth highest price at the position. Newton finished behind only Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson in FanDuel points per game last season. He led the league with 754 rushing yards, which is 47.1 per game. That’s like starting with a touchdown, which makes him so valuable in cash. Even if he doesn’t toss two or three touchdowns, he’ll do enough on the ground and could even run one in. Cam scored six rushing touchdowns last season. Christian McCaffrey is explosive, Greg Olsen is back and D.J. Moore looks like a player. Not to mention, Devin Funchess broke out last season.
