Targets Per Route Run Report: Week 9 (Fantasy Football)
Welcome back to the TPRR report. As a refresher, Targets Per Route Run, or TPRR, is a metric that quantifies a player’s efficiency in earning targets. For wide receivers, a target is the most important underlying metric to predict consistent fantasy output, so a player’s ability to earn these targets at a high rate is key. Historically, a 20% TPRR is a good minimum threshold we want to see, and the best of the best consistently see TPRRs north of 30%.
Let’s take a look at this week’s leaders. TPRR is only part of the story, and we’re gradually shifting toward focusing on season-long trends over one-off performances. The Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers are on bye in Week 9.

Week 8 Reactions
Looking back to our predictions last week, George Kittle blew up, Amari Cooper was uninvolved but Khalil Shakir and Dalton Kincaid had season-best weeks, Josh Downs proved me wrong, and Cedric Tillman was a week winner. We press on.
Calvin Ridley Proves Andy Right
If you’ve been listening to the podcast, you know that Andy was ready to be hurt again by Calvin Ridley. The squeaky wheel in Tennessee has been getting the grease since Tennessee’s bye week, with eight or more targets for three games running and at least 24% TPRR. It’s the year of backup quarterback redemption, and Mason Rudolph would be wise to continue looking Ridley’s way. New England’s pass defense has been middle of the pack in 2024, and Ridley is in a good spot to produce.
Don’t pretend you believed me. I am not sure I believed myself. But man I feel alive.

Courtland Sutton
Sutton has a tendency to go missing on any given Sunday, but he is emerging as a trusty target for Bo Nix. With the Ravens giving up the most passing yards in the league and boasting a top-three offense, I’m expecting ample opportunity for the ascendant rookie to air it out to Courtland Sutton.
Paradise Lost & Found
Maybe John Milton was onto something in the 1600s. Is it better to reign in hell (Cleveland’s offense with Deshaun Watson) or serve in heaven (Buffalo)? Amari Cooper (8% TPRR) turned in an absolute dud in Week 8. While we can consider this part of his acclimation — Cooper only played 50% of the offensive snaps — there will be weeks when he isn’t needed for the offense to click. Not coincidentally, we’ve seen Khalil Shakir, Dalton Kincaid, and James Cook turn in big performances since Cooper’s arrival in Buffalo. I’m keeping the faith, but Cooper doesn’t have the offense all to himself.
Team Focus: Cleveland Browns
Cedric Tillman (22.5% TPRR) will get most of the headlines for his two touchdowns, but it’s worth noting that Elijah Moore (remember Elijah Moore?!) led the team in targets and posted a 33% TPRR with Jameis Winston under center. The Chargers lead the NFL in opponent’s points per game, and their slow pace of play will present the Browns with limited opportunities. Looking ahead, the Browns play in New Orleans after their Week 10 bye, then face a gauntlet against Pittsburgh and Denver in Weeks 12 and 13. Temper those expectations.
