Milton was competing with Sam Howell for the top backup spot behind Dak Prescott at quarterback in 2026, and Howell appears to have won the job. Milton completed 29 of 43 passes for 378 yards and three touchdowns while also adding 12 carries for 14 yards and a score while playing in all three of the Cowboys' preseason contests. If the quarterback clears waivers, he's expected to join the practice squad with Dallas.
