Week 11 Target Report (Fantasy Football)
Week 11 saw a lot of unexpected target magnets. Of course, the usual suspects (Michael Thomas, Deandre Hopkins, Zach Ertz) got theirs, but we also saw several young up-and-comers have relative breakouts and set personal target records. Let’s start the Week 11 Target Report with a pair of DJs.
Spoiler alert: neither of them plays in Arizona.
D.J. Chark: 15 targets, 8 rec
It was natural to question how Chark would be used this week with the return of quarterback Nick Foles, but it seems that we now have a pretty clear answer. The breakout receiver saw a career-high 15 targets, equating to a 32% target share in Foles’ first game since Week 1.
D.J. Moore: 15 targets, 8 rec
He didn’t put up as many fantasy points as the D.J. in Jacksonville, but the Panther had just as many targets and receptions. He’s averaged 11 targets per game since Week 6, but the problem is that he hasn’t found the end zone since Week 3. That’s likely to change sooner than later as long as he maintains his target volume.
Christian McCaffrey: 14 targets, 11 rec
This week we got to see exactly how a running back can finish as the RB1 on the week without scoring a touchdown in a game that his team loses by 26 points. McCaffrey leads all running backs with 74 targets on the season. Nobody anywhere is considering ever benching him, but his insane floor is still worth mentioning.
Cameron Brate: 14 targets, 10 rec
Brate set his career-high in targets and played on a season-high 51 snaps. It’s probably not a coincidence that this occurred in the same game that O.J. Howard’s only target hit him in the hands, got bobbled behind his back, and bounced right into the hands of Saints linebacker Demario Davis.
John Brown: 14 targets, 9 rec
It was a blowup week for Brown, who logged his season-high in both targets and receptions. He’s been putting up reliable, if not spectacular fantasy points all season, but this was the type of performance many envisioned when Smokey Brown teamed up with Josh Allen in Buffalo in the offseason.
Taylor Gabriel: 14 targets, 7 rec
Gabriel set a career-high with the 14 targets he saw Sunday. Unfortunately for him, they were targets from Mitch Trubisky, which aren’t exactly the most valuable. The same goes for Anthony Miller, who also saw a career-high 11 targets amount to minimal fantasy points. Their combined 25 targets yielded just 13 receptions for 111 yards and no touchdowns.
Michael Gallup: 13 targets, 9 rec
Amari Cooper may be the superstar wideout in Dallas, but Michael Gallup probably isn’t getting enough credit. He missed a few games earlier this season, but Gallup is actually seeing slightly more targets per game (8.6) than Cooper (7.9).
Noah Fant: 11 targets, 4 rec
Fant is another player that saw career-high targets in Week 11. The Broncos clearly want to utilize the talented rookie, though his targets are likely to come from questionable quarterbacks in Denver the rest of the season. Still, as he showed in Week 10, Fant has the talent to turn any target into a big touchdown.
Kyle Juszczyk: 7 targets, 7 rec
Fullbacks don’t typically show up on the Target Report, or fantasy football rosters, but Juszczyk may be the exception. The only running backs to see more targets in Week 11 were McCaffrey, Austin Ekeler, Alvin Kamara, and Kareem Hunt. He isn’t going to win you a week but is worth a desperation play in deep PPR leagues if you’re in a tight spot.
Cooper Kupp: 3 targets, 3 rec
After averaging 10.9 targets per game through the first eight weeks, Kupp has seen a massive drop off and only been targeted seven times in the two games following the Rams bye week. He almost turned one of those targets into a huge touchdown Sunday night, stepping out of bounds (and fumbling) just short of the goal line. Still, the recent lack of targets is worrisome at best.
