Flex Options for Week 7 (Fantasy Football)
Weekly starters like Emeka Egbuka, Puka Nacua, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Garrett Wilson all went down with injury last week and appear doubtful to play in Week 7. If you roster one of these receivers, you may be entitled to flex option compensation through the Fantasy Footballers’ Rankings. In this article, we will take a look at some players who are currently ranked outside the Top-24 RBs or Top-36 WRs, but who I think belong in your starting lineup this week. If your lineup is in need of a deeper starting option due to bye weeks, injuries, or just a rough start to the season, this article is for you.
This week’s players are:
Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints
Kamara has been sliding in the weekly rankings lately due to Kendre Miller eating into his snap share (39% each of the last two weeks). Despite Miller’s emergence, Kamara’s 72% snap share is actually the highest of his nine-year career.

He’s no longer the efficiency monster he used to be, but he’s staying fantasy relevant year after year thanks to steady volume and pass-catching ability. Kamara has finished inside the Top-30 each of the past three weeks thanks to 13 receptions on 16 targets over that span. The Bears’ defense isn’t particularly tough against the run (or the pass), so Kamara should be in play this week as a high-floor flex option.
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Cleveland Browns
Jeudy has been nothing short of a disappointment for fantasy this year, but he still saw 13 targets last week, bringing his season total to 48. His 17-game target pace is 136, which isn’t too far off from the 145 targets he saw last year when he finished as the WR15. Obviously, the targets he’s receiving from rookie QB Dillon Gabriel are not leading to fantasy production so far, but I am predicting some positive regression in that regard as the rapport begins to grow between the two.
The matchup with Miami this week is average at best, but I think Jeudy offers better upside than other receivers ranked in this range. You could say this about any WR, but Jeudy is always just one long TD away from a strong fantasy performance. The difference is that Jeudy has displayed big-play ability many times in the past. He’s a dart throw this week, but a worthwhile one.
Tre Tucker, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
You might be wondering why the WR8 on the season has found his way into a flex options article…or you might be wondering how Tre Tucker is the WR8 on the season and you have never heard his name before. Either way, Tucker is shaping into a solid weekly option thanks to a 92% snap share and some impressive big-play ability. His current WR8 standing is inflated thanks to a massive Week 3 in which he scored three TDs and finished as the WR1 on the week. He followed up that performance with a WR74 dud, leading many to believe that it was a fluke. Over the last two weeks, however, Tucker has turned in back-to-back Top-36 weeks. He’s totaled 141 yards per scrimmage over that span on 11 targets and one rush. We also know that he’s got a high ceiling on any given week, so you can definitely take a shot on him in your flex spot.
The Raiders are huge underdogs to the Chiefs this week, so there should be opportunities for Tucker in the passing game as his team tries to keep up.
Josh Downs, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Downs is quietly picking up some momentum for Indianapolis. He’s caught six passes in consecutive weeks, including a TD last week against Arizona – his first of the year. His four red zone targets led the team, showing that he’s gaining some trust from Daniel Jones around the goal line.
The matchup this week with the Chargers is pretty good, with a 48.5 point over/under. The Chargers have been fairly tough against WRs this year, but in recent weeks Deebo Samuel and Jaylen Waddle have managed solid fantasy outings against them. Unlike Downs’ teammate Michael Pittman, who seems to be TD-dependent, I think Downs can PPR his way to a solid fantasy day in your flex.
Tez Johnson, WR, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Someone has to catch passes from MVP-candidate Baker Mayfield. At the time of this writing, it looks like Mike Evans, Emeka Egbuka, and Chris Godwin will all miss this week’s contest with Detroit. Fear not! If last week’s long TD was any indication, Tez Johnson may be the next man up. If you haven’t seen the play, it was a thing of beauty and gave Tampa Bay.
1️⃣ Tez Johnson
With Tampa Bay’s WR room banged up, Johnson has carved out a role over the last two weeks:
5 catches | 7 targets
104 yards
1 TD
21.6 total FPTSHe flashed big-play potential in back-to-back weeks, and could continue to see more work 🔥 pic.twitter.com/YqB411veFy

It was Johnson’s only catch of the game, but his snap share increased from 36% in Week 5 to 72% in Week 6 with the injury to Emeka Egbuka, suggesting that he may be the player to benefit the most from his absence. The matchup against Detroit’s injury-riddled secondary in a game with a 52.5 point over/under is too good to pass up. You will want pieces of this game, and this might be one you can pick up off the waiver wire. Pick up and play the talented rookie if you are in need of a high-upside flex this week.
