Flex Options for Week 2 (Fantasy Football)
Man, was it great to have football back! We got the hardest week out of the way, and now we have some real 2025 data to use when filling out our lineups. Welcome back to the Week 2 edition of my flex options article, where I’ll identify some names who are ranked outside starter territory in the Fantasy Footballers’ rankings, but who I think you should get into your lineups this week. Last week, we had quite a bit of success with guys like Jaylen Warren, Jakobi Meyers, Rome Odunze, and Austin Ekeler. Not so much with Jerome Ford, but like I said, Week 1 can be tough to predict. Heading into Week 2 of the season, let’s check in on some of the best flex options that we can feel confident starting. Needless to say, Mr. Ford will not be making an appearance in this week’s article.
Here’s who did:
J.K. Dobbins, RB, Denver Broncos
The Broncos offense underwhelmed in Week 1, but Dobbins still managed to carve out a solid day on the ground, taking 16 carries for 63 yards and a TD. He also added a pair of receptions. It wasn’t the flashiest performance by any means, but he did break a couple of tackles on his 19-yard 4th-quarter TD scamper.

Dobbins took on a featured role, playing 54% of snaps and out-touching both rookie RJ Harvey (7 touches) and “The Bidet” Tyler Badie (2 touches). I expect Harvey to ramp up as the season goes on, but not all at once. I think it’s safe to expect 15+ touches again for Dobbins this week against Indianapolis. The Dolphins’ offense made the Colts’ defense look like world-beaters last week, but I reckon that had more to do with Miami’s ineptitude than anything else. I’m not scared of this matchup in the slightest, and I think you can fire up Dobbins in your flex spot despite where he’s ranked right now as the RB28.
Jordan Mason, RB, Minnesota Vikings
Speaking of snap shares, how about Jordan Mason on Monday Night? He was the better of the two Vikings running backs all night. Aaron Jones did catch a nice TD to give Minnesota the lead, but the snap shares tell the story. Mason saw 54% of snaps to Jones’ 50%, proving that the coaching staff noticed Mason’s effectiveness. The usage actually reminded me a little bit of the Sonic and Knuckles duo in Detroit, although Jones may be too old to be regarded as Sonic these days. We never really saw a goal-line package from the Vikings’ offense, which spent the majority of the game in their own end or punting the ball away.
Minnesota’s offense came out of the gates extremely slow, but things seemed to click for them in the fourth quarter when they scored three TDs on consecutive drives. Hopefully, they can ride that momentum into a matchup with Atlanta this week, who just gave up 101 yards rushing and a TD to the Bucs. If they can, I like Mason’s chances to find the endzone and return positive value on his RB29 ranking.
Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Isn’t it kind of nice when something predictable happens for a change? The drumbeat had been building for Keenan Allen throughout training camp as reports came out about how involved he was in the offense. He became a popular late-round flier as a result, and those who took a shot on him are pretty pleased with themselves right now. Allen saw 10 (!) targets in Week 1, catching 7 of them for 68 yards and a TD, all while looking as smooth as ever. He did have one drop on the sideline, or it could’ve been an even bigger night for Keenan. Unfortunately, he probably did all of this on the bench for your squad due to his low draft capital, but if you’ve got him, I think you can start him this week against a soft Raiders’ defense. It’s a nice 25-point implied team total for the Chargers this week, and Keenan is going to smash his WR37 ranking.
Bonus Option: I also like Quentin Johnston (WR2 on the season!) this week for all the same reasons.
Stefon Diggs, WR, New England Patriots
Another star WR of yesteryear, Stefon Diggs, quietly had a solid showing in his Patriots debut. The snap share wasn’t great, just 41%, but when he was out there, he was running routes, totaling 37 routes on the day. Not only that, but he was getting open, garnering seven targets and catching six of them for 57 yards. It wasn’t much, but it was an encouraging performance for his first game back from an ACL injury he suffered last year. Don’t get me wrong, a 41% snap share doesn’t put him anywhere near must-start territory, but if you need a spot-start already this early in the season, you can put Diggs out there.
What I really love about Diggs this week is the matchup. The Dolphins couldn’t stop ANYBODY last week. They made Daniel Jones and Michael Pittman look like Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. If that trend continues, Diggs could be in for a nice week, and you should also consider adding Kayshon Boutte and Demario Douglas off the waiver wire.
Cedric Tillman, WR, Cleveland Browns
This one is more of a deep-league option, but I actually love Tillman’s spot this week. In Week 1, Tillman picked up right where he left off before getting injured last season. He finished inside the top-16 at the WR position three times in just four games as a full-time player in 2024. He was the WR18 in Week 1, catching five of eight targets for 58 yards and a score. It’s still a pretty small sample size for Tillman, who has a career receiving line of 55/615/4 over 26 games played, but he’s developing into a player we need to be aware of. His role as the full-time WR2 for Cleveland doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, and when he’s been in that role, he has excelled.
This week, the matchup with Baltimore excites me. It was against Baltimore in Week 8 that Tillman had his best game as a pro last season, catching seven passes for 99 yards and two TDS. The Ravens are certainly going to score points and force the Browns to keep pace. I expect Joe Flacco to look Tillman’s way early and often in an effort to do so. If you have better options, that’s fine, but don’t be surprised to watch Tillman go off on your bench this week.
