May ditch red jersey this week

Giants coach John Harbaugh said Sunday that Nabers (knee) could be out of his red non-contact jersey at some point this week, Evan Barnes of Newsday reports.

Harbaugh added that they will see how Nabers feels Monday and that it wasn't a necessity for him to shed the non-contact jersey this week since the regular-season opener is still three weeks away, per Barnes. The 23-year-old returned to team sessions last Monday, but he still sat out joint practices versus the Dolphins ahead of Saturday's 26-3 preseason win. Whether Nabers sheds the non-contact jersey will be a key checkpoint for his Week 1 readiness, but Harbaugh's comments suggest the Giants are still prioritizing his knee recovery timeline. New York will open its regular season versus the Cowboys on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Needs to take contact before game action

Giants head coach John Harbaugh said after Tuesday's practice that Nabers (knee) will need to take contact before getting cleared to play Week 1 against the Cowboys, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports. "He won't go through the rest of the summer in a red [no-contact] jersey," Harbaugh said. "He's going to have to get bumped around and hit and fronted up. You just have to feel that and know how to deal with it to protect yourself."

Could be squeezed for snaps

Singletary could face an uphill battle to make the Giants' Week 1 roster after the team signed Najee Harris on Tuesday, as reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
