Starting QB decision expected to come Monday

The two quarterbacks have gone back and forth on reps during the preseason. Watson started the first half of Cleveland's preseason opener, but then he didn't play until after halftime when Sanders started in Saturday's 31-7 preseason loss to Buffalo. The 30-year-old has completed 16 of 27 passes for 162 yards and zero touchdowns to one interception. With neither quarterback obviously pulling away in the competition this preseason, it's likely that whoever is named the Week 1 opener will have to play for their jobs on a game-to-game basis this season. Cleveland will open its 2026 campaign versus the Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 13.
