Tank Dell, WR (HOU)

Limited to individual drills

Dell (knee) was limited to individual drills Wednesday while wearing pads for the first time this summer, Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle reports.

It's both a sign of progress and reminder that the Texans want to slow-play things after Dell suffered major knee/leg injuries in each of his first two NFL seasons. He still has a shot to be ready in September, but his initial role could be small even if the team still views him as a potential top-three WR down the line.

'Lots of opportunities' on tap

Texans running backs coach Danny Barrett said Sunday that he still envisions Marks taking on a sizable workload in his second NFL season, even after Houston acquired David Montgomery earlier in the offseason, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. "I think the key for Woody is understanding his role, which he does," Barrett said. "He's going to get lots of opportunities."

Central to Texans' plans on offense

Houston's offseason acquisition of Montgomery should help the team have a more punishing running game and improve in the red zone as well as in play action, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 reports.
