Biggest Studs
Justin Herbert (QB | Chargers)
Week 7 vs JAX: 27 completions on 43 passes for 347 yds & 3 TD | 9 rushes for 66 yds & 1 TD
Upcoming Schedule: @DEN, LV, @MIA
Herbert is on fire. After a monster game, he’s now the QB4 overall on the season on a points-per-game basis…ahead of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. Herbert has scored at least 22 fantasy points in four of five matchups. He’s a plug and play quarterback until we see otherwise…although it is certainly a small sample size at the moment.
Tyler Lockett (WR | Seahawks)
Week 7 @ ARI: 15 receptions on 20(!!!) targets for 200 yards & 3 TD
Upcoming Schedule: SF, @BUF, @LAR
Lockett had a career game last night and was an integral part of the Seahawks offense during a close matchup that ultimately ended in a loss. Lockett is a player who is a bit streaky. Since the start of the 2019 season, Lockett has seven games with ≤ 4 targets. He also has four games with ≥ 12 targets. That being said, he remains a must play every week, and he’s already had two weeks this season where he single-handedly won a matchup for you. Throw Lockett in your lineup and leave him there for the rest of the season.
Davante Adams (WR | Packers)
Week 7 @ HOU: 13 receptions on 16 targets for 196 yards & 2 TD
Upcoming Schedule: MIN, @SF, JAX
Davante Adams showed up huge on Sunday with a 38 fantasy point performance. He looked incredible on the field, showcasing that he’s arguably the best receiver in the league. While Adams has missed time due to injury, he’s proven that he remains an elite fantasy asset. Adams now has two of four games played this season with more than 34 fantasy points! In a year with more chaos than ever, those who roster Adams can take a deep breath and relax like when you take Budpop’s delta 8 gummies.
Jeff Wilson Jr. (RB | 49ers)
Week 7 @NE: 17 rushes for 112 yards & 3 TD | 2 receptions on 2 targets for 8 yards.
Upcoming Schedule: @SEA, GB, @NO, BYE
It was Wilson (not McKinnon) that got the bulk of the carries this past week. Wilson, who’s fourth on the depth chart, was electric. Head coach Kyle Shanahan has a way of making any running back look like an elite player. I expected McKinnon and Wilson to split the work, but that certainly wasn’t the case. Wilson got injured during the game, and fifth-string running back JaMycal Hasty took over instead of McKinnon. And of course fullback GOD Kyle Juszczyk had a few touches and managed to hit paydirt. That’s a lot of players in the mix right? Don’t forget about the injured Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman, who will be back later this season. There should be a super valuable RB for the 49ers every week, but it’s been really difficult to predict due to a rotating backfield and injuries. I’m officially concerned about McKinnon from a fantasy standpoint, and you should be too.
Biggest Stinkers
Cam Newton (QB | Patriots)
Week 7 vs SF: 9 completions on 15 passes for 98 yards & 3 Int | 5 rushes for 19 yards
Upcoming Schedule: @BUF, @NYJ, BAL
Cam Newton was literally benched on Sunday. He looked bad. REAL BAD. Like “negative fantasy points in most formats” bad. The Patriots have had a strange couple of weeks with zoom meetings and canceled practices due to Covid cases. Is this related? We don’t know what’s in store for Cam moving forward, but you certainly shouldn’t start him next week. Fortunately, Bill Belichick came out and said Cam is the undisputed starter…While that’s good news, it’s not a good sign when your starting job is in question. Cam is droppable, but it’s fine if you hold him on the bench to see what you have in his Week 9 matchup against the Jets.

Cheat Sheet (2019 Baseline)
Whether this is your first fantasy football season or you’re a veteran, it’s helpful to place fantasy football production in context. Before we look at both the huge performances and huge disappointments from Week 2, let’s look at what happened in 2019. Last season, there were only 11 total fantasy performances of 40+ points from quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. To put that into perspective, there were 79 such instances of 30+ points and 423 such instances of 20+ points. What does that tell us? A 40+ point game is legendary. 30+ games are great, and we should expect five or so players to reach this mark every week. And finally, we should expect about 25 players every week to eclipse the 20+ point mark. The table below summarizes the fantasy football stud games among QB, RB, WR, and TE in 2019.
