I recently shared an article all of the updates for the 2024 Megalabowl including:
- The Return of Trades
- 6 Playoff Teams per League
As we rapidly approach the start of the Megalabowl drafts everyone is asking the same question, “how do I win this thing?”
You don’t win your league at the draft. However, drafting with a sound strategy and making informed picks will set you up for success in the Megalabowl. You may feel pressure to rush to a great record early in the Megalabowl but this is a season-long contest and you only need to beat half your league to make it to the playoffs and give yourself a chance to become the infamous Megalabowl Champion.
Business As Usual
This year in The Megalabowl there will be 6 teams that make it from each 12-person league and trades are back on. Previously with 3 teams making it in, you would lean towards being very aggressive and take on more risk in the draft, because you had to end up one of the best teams to even make it to the Big Dance. With those changes, you can take a balanced team building approach in the draft and start off like any other redraft league – then make your trades and waiver acquisitions leading up to the playoffs to give yourself a shot to win it all Week 17. Just make sure you get into the playoff first.
The Megalabowl and other Footclan leagues do present a different challenge though – drafting with like-minded people who are listening to the same advice you are. This can lead to certain players being drafted higher, ADP changes for entire position groups, and affect your leagues waiver wire and trades throughout the season. But with these challenges comes a league full of competition, fun, and relationships.
But besides crushing the draft against this heightened competition with the Ultimate Draft Kit, we are going to dive deeper into Footclan drafts specifically to set you up for the best Megalabowl draft this year. We looked at Footclan Mock Draft for this season to find out what trends stick out that will lead you to developing a dominant draft strategy.
The “My Guy” Bump
The bump is very real, each one of the My Guys was drafted ahead of ADP in a big way. Calvin Ridley and Jayden Daniels were each drafted about 16 picks ahead of their ADP on Sleeper. Even at the top of the draft we see Isiah Pacheco and De’Von Achane almost never making it into the third round.
| Player | Footclan ADP | Sleeper ADP | Difference | |
| Andy | ||||
| Calvin Ridley | WR | 6.04 | 7.08 | -15 |
| Malik Nabers | WR | 3.09 | 4.06 | -8 |
| Jayden Daniels | QB | 8.11 | 10.04 | -16 |
| Mike | ||||
| Jaylen Waddle | WR | 3.04 | 3.11 | -6 |
| James Cook | RB | 3.10 | 4.04 | -5 |
| Kyler Murray | QB | 6.05 | 6.10 | -4 |
| Jason | ||||
| De’Von Achane | RB | 2.06 | 2.11 | -5 |
| Isiah Pacheco | RB | 2.11 | 3.03 | -4 |
| Tank Dell | WR | 4.08 | 5.07 | -10 |
Upside Wide Receivers
Throughout the draft there’s a select few of WRs who are taken significantly before their ADP. Nico Collins and Rashee Rice specifically are drafted way ahead of their typical positions. If you have your eyes on these players you may need to take them earlier than you may be comfortable doing so.
| Player | Footclan ADP | Sleeper ADP | Upside | |
| Nico Collins | WR | 2.12 | 3.10 | 7.7 |
| DeVonta Smith | WR | 4.02 | 4.11 | 7.8 |
| Rashee Rice | WR | 6.03 | 7.10 | 6.3 |
| Diontae Johnson | WR | 7.12 | 8.11 | 5.3 |
| Brian Thomas Jr | WR | 8.02 | 9.09 | 6.5 |
| Jaxon Smith-Njigba | WR | 8.07 | 9.06 | 6.8 |
QB Landslide
If you get nervous about a QB run going between your picks you should be able to mark yourself safe from that during Footclan drafts. Quarterbacks outside of a few are drafted more than a round later than their ADP and in some cases up to 3 rounds later. Always stay fluid in your draft but so far in mock drafts the Footclan has waited and waited on the position.
| Player | Footclan ADP | Sleeper ADP | Difference | |
| Patrick Mahomes | QB | 4.06 | 3.09 | 9 |
| Lamar Jackson | QB | 5.02 | 3.12 | 14 |
| CJ Stroud | QB | 6.03 | 4.10 | 18 |
| Anthony Richardson | QB | 6.09 | 5.06 | 15 |
| Joe Burrow | QB | 7.02 | 6.02 | 12 |
| Jordan Love | QB | 9.05 | 7.11 | 18 |
| Caleb Williams | QB | 11.01 | 9.03 | 23 |
| Tua Tagovailoa | QB | 12.01 | 9.10 | 28 |
| Brock Purdy | QB | 11.11 | 9.02 | 33 |
| Jared Goff | QB | 12.05 | 10.06 | 23 |
| Trevor Lawrence | QB | 13.09 | 11.07 | 27 |
