Welcome back to the TPRR report. As a refresher, Targets Per Route Run, or TPRR, is a metric that quantifies a player’s efficiency in earning targets. For wide receivers, a target is the most important underlying metric to predict consistent fantasy output, so a player’s ability to earn these targets at a high rate is key. Historically, a 20% TPRR is a good minimum threshold we want to see, and the best of the best consistently see TPRRs north of 30%.

Week 11 Reactions

The good news is that we were spot on about Jauan Jennings being the right call over Ricky Pearsall. Jennings earned another 10 targets at a 29.4% TPRR, while Pearsall was only targeted once (4% TPRR). George Kittle‘s probable return in Week 12 lowers Jennings’ floor, but he’s still a solid play with six teams on bye.

The bad news is that I gave up on Josh Downs because of Anthony Richardson‘s return. Downs’ 20% TPRR in the Week 11 win is respectable, but it’s not the top-tier 30%+ we’ve seen all season. The logic was sound, but Downs made the most of fewer opportunities.

Nico Collins (33%) is back. Despite the Texans leaning heavily on Joe Mixon and the run game and Collins only playing 13% of the offensive snaps, he drew the same number of targets as Tank Dell and Dalton Schultz.

The Season So Far

Late-Season Rookies

It happens every year. Rookies become who they are in the back half of the season. Rome Odunze has seen six or more targets per game the last four weeks, Ladd McConkey just broke out as a favorite target of Justin Herbert, and the trio of Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr., and Marvin Harrison Jr. all flashed their potential early.

What If Running Backs and Tight Ends Were on the List?

Let’s bring this back for a second week. Given eligibility parameters similar to those of wide receivers (reduced to 100 min. route run), here are the top 20 backs and tight ends in TPRR:

Player POS Team Routes Targets TPRR

Rachaad White HB TB 190 40 21.05%
David Njoku TE CLV 231 48 20.78%
Jake Ferguson TE DAL 267 55 20.60%

Tyreek Hill is getting back into form despite a torn wrist ligament, but the presence on this list of both De’Von Achane and Jonnu Smith gives an idea of why Hill and Jaylen Waddle (16% TPRR) have had lackluster seasons.

If you’ve been waiting all season for the Jonathon Brooks debut, this list does provide a faint glimmer of hope that your patience wasn’t in vain. If the Chiefs blitz Bryce Young (and why wouldn’t they?), then OC Brad Idzik may not give pass-blocking duties to an unproven rookie coming off a major knee injury. But here’s the case for it: Miles Sanders has been targeted when running routes, and Chuba Hubbard doesn’t make the list with a 17% TPRR but has been targeted 3.5 times per game. Brooks was an above-average blocker in college, Miles Sanders isn’t your future, and the Panthers aren’t gunning for a playoff spot. If the Panthers, as expected, are playing catch-up, it’s a perfect opportunity to give Brooks some serious run. Hey, a boy can dream.
