Welcome back to Week 8 of the Targets Per Route Run Report. If it is your first time here, welcome! If you have been here all season, welcome back! We are halfway to the fantasy playoffs, which means it is time to make meaningful moves towards our #FootClanTitles.

TPRR is here to help you call those shots. If you need a primer, I lay that out for you in the initial TPRR report. If you want to get used to the thresholds and vernacular I will use in this article, check this article out. Finally, if you want to get ahead of the next breakout instead of chasing last week’s fantasy points, you are in the right place.

The Box Score Does Not Always Tell the Whole Story

Last week was a weird week for fantasy. I work Sunday mornings, which means I do not get to check the scores until about noon Pacific. So when I finally opened Sleeper around noon, something felt off. The box scores looked strange, and when I dug into the Week 7 TPRR numbers, things got even more interesting.

W1 — WR 19.7%, TE 16.7%, RB 16.7%
W2 — WR 20.0%, TE 15.8%, RB 18.2%
W3 — WR 19.2%, TE 18.2%, RB 20.0%
W4 — WR 18.2%, TE 17.6%, RB 18.5%
W5 — WR 18.2%, TE 18.2%, RB 20.0%
W6 — WR 19.4%, TE 20.4%, RB 16.7%
W7 — WR 17.8%, TE 18.4%, RB 25.0%

WRs hit a season-low median TPRR, while RBs reached a season high, jumping five percentage points above their previous peak. Week 7 was a strange one.

Seven weeks into the season, fantasy managers are becoming increasingly convinced they know who players are. We have seen enough football to start staking our claims on players. Some of us are even ready to do that with guys who have barely played! *cough* Omar Cooper Jr. *cough*

Many managers will look at what players have already done to predict future success. Savvy managers, like you reading this article right now, will look beneath the fantasy points to the underlying metrics that might carry into future production. Remember, “targets are an earned stat.”

As you make future-oriented moves, you are looking for momentum. You are looking for players who are consistently beating their positional TPRR medians while trusting their fantasy production will catch up. One breakout week does not mean elite production moving forward.

Tennessee cornerback Marcus Harris (26) wraps up Cleveland wide receiver KC Concepcion (1) after a reception during the fourth quarter at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tenn., Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026.

USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

Take the Browns WRs, for example. KC Concepcion had a breakout Week 7, posting an elite 35.7% TPRR. He now sits at WR23 in season-long TPRR (24.9%), while Denzel Boston ranks WR48 (18.5%). Yet Boston has been the more productive fantasy player for much of the season. Before Week 7, KC was already a positive regression candidate based on his target earnings compared with his fantasy production.

If you are trading and you wanted to use TPRR instead of Fantasy Points scored, you could have sold Denzel Boston high a few weeks ago and bought KC Concepcion low. Remember, we cannot predict the future, but we can identify players whose opportunities suggest their fantasy production might be telling us an incomplete story.

In previous articles, I introduced our NBA Jam-inspired Heat Check system. Players who consistently beat their positional TPRR median start heating up. Players who fall below it start cooling off.

Then we added another layer, comparing each player’s positional TPRR percentile against their fantasy production percentile. This helped us identify players who were earning more opportunities than their fantasy points suggested.

Now, what happens when we put those two tools together?

Introducing Breakout Watch

Breakout Watch identifies players whose target earnings are heating up while their fantasy production has yet to catch up.

These are candidates to investigate, not automatic buys. Wan’Dale Robinson, for example, qualifies for Breakout Watch. His fantasy production would be roughly 9.3 half-PPR points per week if it matched his TPRR percentile. That is an improvement over his current 6.7, but hardly a league-winning breakout.

Heat Check

A couple of quick hits before I post the master heat check chart.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba is very good at football. He is the top dog, and it would be incredible if he could break Cooper Kupp’s 2021 single-season WR PPR fantasy point record. What I love about his profile is that his fantasy production is backed by elite target earnings. JSN has 196.2 PPR points through seven games. That puts him on a roughly 476-point pace over 17 games.

CeeDee Lamb has been on a tear, and his phenomenal 54.5% Week 7 TPRR supports his fantasy production. His 34.5% season TPRR tells us this target dominance is not just a one-week fluke.

Colston Loveland had an impressive 44.4% Week 7 TPRR. One week does not erase his disappointing start to the season, but with Caleb Williams back, Loveland has now put together two strong performances. He is not on Heat Check yet, but if this target-earning continues, I expect to see him there soon.
