Targets Per Route Run Week 5 (Fantasy Football)
We have arrived. We are no longer casually dating the 2026 NFL season; we are going steady. TPRR is more believable after four weeks. Trends are developing, and we are starting to see who these players really are. Are they a great first-week impression but have fallen off? Or maybe they were nervous Week 1 and have been coming on strong since then.
This is also the week where the draft-day value fades. With bye weeks upon us, it is time to let go of some players before we stay too emotionally invested in players we fell for during draft season. Let this article give you the reasons to cut ties and get out of that unhealthy relationship.
You can do it. I believe in you.
One noteworthy thing: I am adding a new wrinkle to the TPRR report this week. I am comparing each player’s TPRR percentile to his fantasy points percentile within his position. This will help identify differences between target earning and fantasy production. A positive number means a player is overproducing relative to his TPRR; a negative number means his fantasy production is behind his TPRR, indicating that there may be some positive regression. I will be referencing it throughout the article as TPRR vs Fantasy Points.
The Methodology
I’ll make this short and sweet.
Targets ÷ Routes Run = TPRR
Weekly route minimums:
- WR: 15 routes
- TE: 10 routes
- RB: 5 routes
Season qualification through Week 4:
- WR: 60 routes
- TE: 40 routes
- RB: 20 routes
A weekly TPRR only counts toward a hot/cold streak if the player meets his positional route minimum that week. A missed or below-minimum week breaks the streak rather than counting as a bad TPRR week.
Current positional medians:
- WR: 19.4%
- TE: 19.1%
- RB: 20.0%
Compare those with last week:
- WR: 19.8% → 19.4%
- TE: 17.8% → 19.1%
- RB: 18.9% → 20.0%
STAYING IN THE FLAMES!
These are the players who have four consecutive weeks of at least five percentage points above their positional median.
These guys are earning targets at excellent rates. It is important to recognize that this does not mean they are scoring fantasy points just yet, but it is an excellent indicator of players who are being used significantly in their offenses.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Chris Olave should be no surprise here, but I am once again banging the drum for Stefon Diggs and Mark Andrews. Last week I noted that Diggs and Andrews would be good targets to navigate injuries and byes.
In my TPRR vs Fantasy Points analysis, Andrews has a 91st percentile TPRR but only a 61st percentile Half-PPR scoring among TEs, producing a -30.4 percentage-point gap. This indicates potential positive regression. I know Lamar Jackson’s injury is a concern, but it could also condense the offense to Zay Flowers and Andrews. Manage your own squads, but that is the bull case for Andrews.

He’s ON FIRE!
Two players are on fire right now: MarShawn Lloyd and Carnell Tate. After shaky Week 1s, they have been eating up week over week.
I believe Carnell Tate is one of the central stories in the TPRR report this week. Last week I specifically wrote that his TPRR had improved every week and said it “may click sooner rather than later.” Now he posted a 42.9% Week 4 TPRR. In my TPRR vs Fantasy Points analysis, Tate has posted a 28.1% season TPRR, 89th percentile target earnings among qualified WRs, but only 69th percentile Half-PPR production, resulting in a -20 point gap.
This flags him as a major underproducer of fantasy points relative to his TPRR. You may be able to trade on a big week from a manager who was panicking. The buy window may completely shut in your league. I believe Jason’s My Guy is a buy, so good luck, and may the odds ever be in your favor.

He’s Heating Up!
These guys are worth noting as the offenses are starting to establish themselves, they are coming back from injury, or they are thrust into a role because of an injury ahead of them.
Two standout guys to me are Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. The LA Rams are clearly passing to the RBs more, but Kyren’s 97 routes to Blake Corum’s 28 is significant. Kyren is looking like one of the steals of the draft. That said, Kyren is actually overproducing fantasy points relative to TPRR by 15.2 points, while Corum is a major underproducer with a -37.9 delta.
The other guys on this list have easy narratives for me to explain, but one that may be worth your attention is Malik Washington. With De’Von Achane out for the year, Washington’s TPRR went from the average range to the excellent range. If he keeps this up, he could be a needed lifeline through the upcoming byes. My TPRR vs Fantasy Points analysis has him at 79th percentile TPRR vs. 54th percentile scoring, indicating that his fantasy production has yet to match his TPRR. He is a positive regression candidate.

He’s Cooling Off!
Not much to report here other than the Texans’ “pass catching” Woody Marks just is not getting targets. Houston, we have an RB problem. While the Texans are losing games, Nico managers are not. We walked right into his highest TPRR of the season despite him coming off injury. My read on the Texans’ RBs is that they are just not really part of the game plan. Mark and avoid for now.

Speaking of the Texans’ RBs, David Montgomery is the only player with three consecutive qualifying weeks of TPRR under the cold threshold. See above for my thoughts on the Houston run game.

HE’S FROZEN SOLID!
This segment is a tale of two cities. On one hand, you have Chuba Hubbard, who does not earn targets on routes, but he does earn fantasy points. In fact, my Fantasy Points vs. TPRR metric has him as the largest Half-PPR overproducer relative to TPRR in the entire qualified pool, with a +79 percentile-point gap. He has been awesome on the ground and is a prime example of why the TPRR metric does not always tell the whole story. I am okay with that.
On the other hand, we have Marvin Harrison Jr. It is time. Let him go. He has had four consecutive weeks of being below or well below the median for WRs. He is a nasty boy. He has a 9.6% TPRR, 90th among qualified WRs, placing him in only the 4th percentile for WR TPRR. Yet his fantasy-point percentile is 23.7%, meaning he is technically overproducing relative to how poorly he is earning targets. His fantasy results have been bad, but the underlying numbers are even worse.
There is not even a narrative where he gets out of this. Trey McBride has a 32.9% season TPRR, and Michael Wilson has increased his TPRR every week of the season. Check out the He’s Heating Up section above.
It is time to say goodbye to Marvin Harrison Jr. It is over for me.
