Week 9 was incredibly exciting with some crazy upsets, almost upsets, and nail-biting finishes. As we head toward Week 10, we are looking squarely at the back half of the fantasy season, and now is the time to start preparing for your fantasy playoffs. We also have the Falcons, Cowboys, Chiefs, Jets on a bye.

Be sure to listen to The Fantasy Footballers Waiver Wire episode for hosts Andy, Mike, and Jason’s breakdown of these players, who you should target, and who you can drop to make room on your roster.

Allen Lazard, Jalen Reagor, Jakobi Meyers really stand out as potential week-to-week producers who are also 70% available on the wire.

Lazard has been missed on the Green Bay Packers. There was a big stink after the trade deadline that the Packers did not trade for a wide receiver like Will Fuller. However, they know what we may have forgotten. They still have Lazard who is recovering from core muscle surgery. He nearly played in Week 9, but the Packers played it safe and kept him off the field. He is returning fresh and to a position where no one has really taken over in his absence. In Weeks 1-3, Lazard saw a combined 17 targets, 13 receptions, 254 yards, and two touchdowns. He should be the primary waiver priority if he is available in your league.

Reagor missed four weeks due to injury but when he came back in Week 8 against Dallas, he saw a season-high six targets, three receptions, only 16 yards, but he did find the end zone. With so few options available for the Eagles, Reagor will be essential in Philadelphia’s offense. Their upcoming (and playoff schedule) is very nice as they face the Giants, Seahawks, and then Dallas again in Week 16. WR Alshon Jeffery is expected to play in Week 10, but his workload will likely be limited to ease him back into action. Jeffery can provide possible big-play ability but it’s Reagor and Fulgham who should see a bulk of the targets at the position.

Aside from Lazard, my next favorite pickup out of all of these players is WR Jakobi Meyers. He has scored double-digit fantasy points in his last three games, including a 28.9 performance last week. QB Cam Newton is impressed with Meyers and that has translated to targets on the field. His target share may decrease with N’Keal Harry back in the lineup, but it’s hard to ignore 10 targets in Week 8 and then 14 targets last week against the Jets.

The running back position is predictably slim as we approach Week 10, despite a long list of names that could be available.

With David Johnson potentially out with a concussion, Duke Johnson has the potential to be a one-week rental with a decent matchup against Cleveland if you need a bye week filler. As soon as David Johnson returns to full form, Duke will be relegated back to the RB2 position.

One would hope that a clearer picture would have emerged in the Dolphins backfield with Myles Gaskin sidelined, but alas, it’s not. Sure, Jordan Howard was activated for the first time in three weeks, but that was because Matt Breida was out with a hamstring injury, and rookie Salvon Ahmed was in the mix as well. Hamstring injuries are tricky to recover from, so it’s possible Breida continues to miss time, but deciding which Miami back will score the points is nearly impossible. Breida is ultimately the one I would rather have with his explosive-play ability, but we do not have a clear timeline for his return. It’s a hot mess.

I am still not clear on who gets the volume or the touches week-to-week for the Ravens or the Rams. That really leaves J.D. McKissic of Washington as the back with the most potential among these available players. He was not involved much in the run game, rushing only three times, but he was targeted 14 times for 65 yards.

No matter how you look at it, the available RBs are shots in the dark. I should also note that Kalen Ballage is back to the practice squad after an admirable performance for the Chargers, and Damien Harris of the Patriots suffered a chest injury in Monday night’s game. If Harris is available, he is a great target, but understand he may miss a few weeks.

Like the RB options, tight ends aren’t much better. I had high hopes for Logan Thomas but it appears backup QB Alex Smith (who will likely finish the season) doesn’t have the same chemistry with Thomas as Kyle Allen did. This could absolutely change so I don’t mind taking a shot on him at only 16% rostered in Yahoo and 37% on ESPN.

Perhaps the TE with the most to offer during the playoffs, but also is boom or bust, is Jimmy Graham of the Bears. Whether Nick Foles can connect with him or not, the QB frequently targets Graham’s big frame in the end zone. He is rostered in 56% of Yahoo leagues and 49% of ESPN leagues so he may not be available, but double-check just in case. His playoff schedule is very nice as the Bears will face Houston, Minnesota, and Jacksonville in Weeks 14-16.

Out of all of these tight ends, however, Dallas Goedert remains my favorite addition despite a slow start upon his return. He was not supposed to return until this week in the first place. After easing back into the offense, I think Goedert will have the opportunity to produce with the Eagles. Remember, if you are targeting Goedert and Reagor, you are going to be double-dipping on pass-catchers for the same team, so just keep that in mind as you are making your waiver claims.

Remember to listen to the Waiver Wire episode for Andy, Mike, and Jason’s take on each of these players as well as their QB and DST streams of the week.
