On Thursday’s episode, the Ballers brought you their Starts of the Week for Week 2. Here is a short synopsis of each pick and the guys rationale from the podcast

Also, give JoinTheFoot.com a visit as it provides a ton of additional resources exclusively for #FootClan members. Now let’s take a look at who the guys think you should start this week.

Andy’s Starts of the Week

QB – Russell Wilson vs. TEN
Last week, we saw OC Shane Waldron unveil this up-tempo offense to the tune of four passing TDs in an easy win over Indianapolis. Russ is going to cook this defense a week after they gave up five total touchdowns to Kyler Murray.  Andy thinks he has a shot at the #1 overall spot this week against Tennessee.

RB – Melvin Gordon @JAX
Jacksonville is — #NotGood. Gordon will get plenty of opportunity and likely some goal line work. Last week he showed he can still break a big play with that 71-yard TD rumble. It’s also worth noting he had the targets in the backfield, 3 to Javonte’s 1.

WR – Mike Williams vs. DAL
This game should be an absolute shootout. Big Mike had 12 targets last week and looked the part of an absolute stud. Oh, and he’s healthy right now! Normally we wouldn’t recommend this but with the highest over/under of the week, chase the first week performance in Week 2!

TE – Kyle Pitts vs. TB
Dalton Schultz and Blake Jarwin combined for 10 targets at TE versus Tampa Bay in Week 1. Their elite pass rush is going to force targets his way so he’s good for eight or more. Last week that was the total he hit getting adjusted to the NFL action. Eight or more, what happens with them?  We’ll see.

Jason’s Starts of the Week

QB – Justin Herbert vs DAL
This game has a massive over/under (55) that is perfect for the Fantasy Footballers. In LAC games with a 50 total or higher last year, Herbert averaged over 300 passing yards per game. He looked great in Week 1 even though the box score doesn’t show it. Washington was a difficult matchup and some fluky plays like his thrown fumble for a touchback when they were about to score. Dallas’ defense are two words that aren’t allowed to be said together.

RB – David Montgomery vs CIN
Montgomery was one of the best looking running backs in the league Week 1 and that was against the Rams top defense. Cincinnati’s defense looked fine last week, but that was in a home opener. This week on the road can only be an easier matchup than the Rams. The Bears are both at home and favored… both things that bode well for TD upside.

WR – Cooper Kupp @IND
CoopaKuppaCoffee! Seriously, he looked like the clear first read for Matthew Stafford. It’s only one game, but the two players were in crazy sync. Betting quickly on that relationship being real. Trade for Kupp.  The Colts couldn’t guard anyone last week as Russell Wilson tore them apart. We can’t blame the Colts so much as Russell Wilson, but it seems like Matthew Stafford / Sean McVay are every bit as good. You saw what Tyler Lockett did last week to them. CoopaKuppaCoffee gonna eat breakfast all over the field. Going ham and eggs.

TE – Dallas Goedert vs SF
Zach Ertz suffered a hamstring injury in Week 1. The Eagles are resting him right now in practice in hopes he can play Week 2, but either way it will be a factor. Ertz played Week 1 and we saw Goedert play up to his potential. Hockenson just destroyed the 49ers and even though they were great against TEs last year, injuries in Week 1 could be changing their fortunes quickly this year. Of the middling TEs, Goedert should have a shot at having a solid week.

Mike’s Starts of the Week

QB – Matthew Stafford @ IND
Stafford and the Rams should continue with their good vibes. He’s now leapfrogged into 2nd place in MVP odds on DraftKings Sportsbook as the leader of this team. The Colts gave up 9th most QB points to Seattle and Stafford was the QB10 versus the Bears last week.

RB – Damien Harris @ NYJ
Harris ran for 100 yards and saw 53 percent of the snaps (which for Patriots RBs is like 75 percent for everyone else) before fumbling the game away. He even saw three targets which for Damien Harris is nothing short of a miracle. As a 6 point road favorite, the Patriots should handle the Jets and hit their 24 team implied points.

WR – Jarvis Landry vs HOU
The Browns have one of the highest team implied points (30) of the week! Last week, Jarvis saw an 18% target share and it could continue to grow. Since 2019, Jarvis averages a solid five receptions and 12 fantasy points per game in games without Odell Beckham Jr. present.

TE – Jared Cook vs DAL
This game has the highest over/under of the week and if you grabbed Cook off of waivers, you can start him this week. He had eight targets last week and a 17% target share. Perhaps it’s just a Brady/Gronk thing but Dallas was just burned by the TE in Week 1.

I got the Jalen Hurts & Davantae Smith stack. Hoping that chemistry pays off.

Ryan Edenfield says:

Stafford-Kupp stack was very nice week 1. Hoping its an omen for a big year for both
