Welcome to the first week of the Targets Per Route Run article for 2026!  

Much like the Strength of Schedule tool in the Ultimate Dashboard, TPRR is a stat that gets stronger over time.  We do not want to overreact to Week 1, but it is the starting line, both for this season’s data and for some hot takes.

Before we dive into the data, here is a refresher on TPRR.

Targets ÷ Routes Run = Targets Per Route Run (TPRR)

As a very loose rule of thumb, this is how you break down TPRR:

  • 30%+ is truly elite TPRR
  • 25-30% is excellent
  • 20-25% is a good, fantasy-relevant range
  • Below 20% is where you really have to look into the data more

As I said in last week’s article, this is not a hard and fast rule. A 19% TPRR deep threat can still be valuable, while a 25% TPRR player only running 12 routes a game is not going to help your fantasy team very much.

A lack of total routes messes with the percentages a bit as we account for injuries – looking at you, Zay Flowers and Ladd McConkey.

Still, when comparing Week 1 to last year’s data, a few things caught my eye.

24-karat Matthew Golden?

After a 16.7% TPRR in 2025, Golden opened 2026 with a 30% TPRR.

Before you say “But Mandooooooo, it’s just one game” in your best impression of the Voice of Public Opinion, Golden was targeted on 12 of his 40(!) routes this last weekend.  

After an off-season of the coaching staff talking about opening up the passing offense, that kind of involvement has my attention. I will be keeping a close eye on Golden and putting in some speculative trade offers before we find out whether Week 1 was noise or the beginning of a breakout.  

Being WR1 in Your Offense leads to Moore?

DJ Moore posted a 15.3% TPRR in 2025 while playing in a crowded Bears receiving corps.  

His Buffalo debut posted a casual 33.3% TPRR on 24 routes.  

What stands out to me is that this was on the road against the vaunted Houston defense.  One week does not make Moore a league winner, but becoming a featured option in this offense could make his fifth-round draft price look like a bargain

Always the McBride, Never the Bridesmaid

Trey McBride led all positions in 2025 with 686 routes.  He paired that massive workload with a 24.6% TPRR in 2025 and scored 253 points in the Megalabowl last year.  He would have finished as the WR5 if you dropped him into WR rankings. 

Turns out that 2026 is picking up right where he left off.

As a Chargers fan, I had a front-row seat to McBride’s 34 routes and his absolutely ridiculous 38.2% TPRR.  Compare that with Michael Wilson at 19.4% and Marvin Harrison Jr at 9.1% TPRR, and nobody else could hold a candle to McBride.

Looks like another monster year could be in store.  

Again, we do not overreact to one week, but keeping an eye on these narratives is the type of thing to keep an eye on as the sample grows.
