The 2025 Megalabowl: The Largest Fantasy Football Tournament

Are you looking to scratch and claw your way into the Listener League with grit and fantasy football acumen alone? The Megalabowl is the largest, season-long fantasy football league in existence that allows you to do just that. With over 20,000 competitors the last three years the Megalabowl has grown from a spreadsheet league for a handful of members on the OG Footclan forums to the behemoth of a competition it is now.
The Megalabowl pushes the limits of what season-long fantasy can be and is a chance to compete with other sharp, like-minded members of The Fantasy Footballers community. I wrote a strategy-based Megalabowl article last year if you want to give it a read.
Megalabowl Leagues
The Megalabowl through the first 14 Weeks will be a familiar, 12-team, ½ PPR, snake draft league. The scoring will mimic that of The Ballers Prefered Format and you can find other rules and settings at Megalabowl.com. Throughout the season use waivers and trades to build up your roster, set the best lineup you can each week, and have fun in your league chat. The goal is simple: be among the top 6 teams in your league to make the Megalabowl Playoffs.
Playoffs
This is where things get different. In the Megalabowl Playoffs you will not have a matchup to win, instead you will be competing against ALL playoff teams trying to finish in the top 50% for each week. At this point waivers are locked, so your team needs to be squared away for your playoff run.
Trading and Waivers
You might be asking… Who is making sure all the trades, drops and waiver moves are competitive? Can’t someone just drop all their players to help the playoff teams? How would you know?
The answer: Me. I am the one who sees EVERY waiver claim, drop, and trade. Last year there were 543,720 total transactions including 5,068 trades – we know this because we see, record, and evaluate every single one. We look to see the context of the trades before drawing any conclusions. Trades are looked at the same way we do in all our leagues… unless it’s collusion then the trade should stand. We want The Megalabowl to be as close to the leagues we play in as possible.
Championship Week
In Week 17 the remaining teams in the Playoffs will compete for the top score – and the team that puts up the most is crowned our Champion. The 2024 Megalabowl Champion – Darrell Montgomery – put up a whopping 239.38 points (for reference 2023 winner put up 216 in Week 17) to take the championship and his seat in the 2024 Listener League.
