New name, same great segment. “Ride or Die” pits The Ballers against each other with three players to meet a certain number each week. Each Baller will pick the player to “Ride” or “Die” with the stat, similar to a “prop” bet.

Each week I will be here to recap where each of the Ballers took the wheel or gave a nice tuck and roll out of the vehicle for each one. Of course I’ll weigh in as well and we’ll keep score throughout the season so you can see how smart I really am.

As always, let me know if you’re jumping in the passenger’s seat with me or think I’m driving the crazy train here or on Twitter: @KurtKnowsBest.

“Ride or Die” Scoreboard

Would you believe that I’m sitting on top yet again from Week 13? Andy matched me getting two of three correct, but everybody knows the tie-breaker always goes to the article writer. Jason was the week’s loser, only getting one prediction correct. As for Mike, well I think I know what happened to him:

Week 13 Ride or Die Outcome
Player Prediction Andy Jason Mike Kurt
Alvin Kamara 10 Fantasy Points (Half-Point PPR) Die Ride x Ride
Amari Cooper Top-12 Fantasy WR Die Die x Die
Tyler Lockett To Score a TD Die Die x Ride
Overall 2022 51% (20/38) 65% (25/38) 53% (19/36) 51% (20/38)

D.J. Moore (CAR) at Seattle: 10+ Fantasy Points

The hope for a D.J. Moore resurgence has been all or nothing for fantasy managers. Since Week 7, Moore has had three top-10 WR finishes but also has three finishes outside the top 50. Moore is still extremely involved in the offense though, averaging seven targets per game this season.

Andy was a quick “Die” on this prediction, not willing to put any faith in Moore. Jason joined Andy, skeptical that Sam Darnold can continue to produce consistently. I’m also going to bet against Moore putting together back-to-back games of fantasy relevance. Moore has only been a top-30 option in consecutive weeks once this season.

Mike ignored his head and followed his heart to “Ride” with D.J. on this prediction. It is encouraging that the last time we saw Moore in Week 12 he had 103 yards against a good Denver defense. Seattle has given up a combined 63 points over their last two games, so there should be an opportunity for the Panthers to score and Moore to hit this line.

Najee Harris (PIT) vs Baltimore: Top-20 RB

The Steelers’ offense has created a rollercoaster environment for Najee Harris so far this season. Harris has only been a top-20 option three times on the year but has finished inside the top 30 in each of the last four games.

Mike quickly decided to “Ride” on this prediction, mainly based on the fact that there are six teams not playing this week. The Ravens’ defense has gotten better throughout the season but has given up a top-24 RB in two of their last four games.

Andy and Jason are both a “Die” on this prediction, and I’ll join them. A large part of Najee’s value lies in his ability to be involved in the passing game, but over the last two weeks, he’s only seen a combined two targets. In all but one week when Harris has been a top-20 option, he’s had at least three receptions for Pittsburgh.

Dak Prescott (DAL) vs Houston: Two Passing TDs

Dak Prescott has the Cowboys’ offense rolling along, finishing as a top-10 QB in four of his last five games. Dak has also hit this line of two passing TDs in five-straight games.

All three Ballers are a “Die” together on this prediction and I’ll join them solely due to Houston’s inability to stop the run. The Texans have only allowed two passing TDs three times this season, but that’s mainly due to their terrible run defense. Jason did note that only twice this season an opposing fantasy QB has scored more than 20 points against this Houston defense.

Davante Adams (LV) @ LA Rams: To score a TD

If I asked you who the current WR1 on the season was, you probably wouldn’t say Davante Adams, but that would be the right answer. Adams has been dominant for fantasy in Silver and Black this season, finishing inside the top 24 in 8-of-12 games. Over the last five weeks, Adams has scored seven TDs and finished as the overall WR1 three times.

Adams gets to line up against an old foe in Jalen Ramsey on Thursday night in the Raiders’ second home stadium at SoFi. Over the last three weeks, LA’s defense has given up seven passing TDs, meaning there is plenty to go around for Adams this week. With the Raiders passing the ball 30 or more times in each of their last five games, and Adams being a key part of that offense, I’m willing to bet on Adams getting into the end zone.

I’ll “Ride” with Adams.

Ezekiel Elliott & Tony Pollard (DAL) vs Houston: Top-24 RBs

I tried the double-up top-24 RBs on the same team a few weeks ago and failed, so I’ll try it again. If you’re going to play multiple RBs from the same team, doing it against Houston is the best bet. The Texans’ defense is the best matchup for fantasy RBs this season which should provide plenty of opportunity for both Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard to produce.

Since Elliott returned from injury in Week 11, he and Pollard have both been top-24 RBs in the same week twice. The only week they haven’t each finished as an RB2 for fantasy purposes, Pollard still had 18 carries so the chances for a big fantasy finish were there.

I’ll take the “Ride” with this duo this week.

Gabe Davis (BUF) vs NY Jets: 55+ Receiving Yards

Being a part of the dynamic Buffalo Bills‘ offense has been a hot and cold experience for fantasy managers who invested in Gabe Davis this season. Davis has been a top-15 WR just four times this year and only once since Week 7, so the consistency hasn’t been there whatsoever. What has to be encouraging for Davis is his continued involvement in the offense where he’s seen at least five targets in all but one game this season.

The Jets present a defense that will make the Bills really work to produce offensively. In their first meeting, New York’s defense held Buffalo to just 205 passing yards and Josh Allen threw two interceptions on the day. The Week 9 meeting was also Davis’ second-lowest receiving output on the day.

I’ll have to “Die” on my belief in Davis this week.
