Appears on track for Week 10
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Thursday that Rodgers (illness) has continued to take part in virtual meetings this week and remains on track to start Sunday against the Seahawks, provided the quarterback "checks out well" when eligible to return from the reserve/COVID-19 list Saturday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
During his appearance Tuesday on "The Pat McAfee Show," Rodgers was optimistic that he would clear all COVID-19-related protocols prior to Sunday's game, and the fact that LaFleur expressed similar sentiments is a reassuring sign. Even so, due to his status as an unvaccinated player who tested positive for the virus, Rodgers will need to pass a cardiac screen and exhibit improved symptoms at the conclusion of his 10-day isolation period Saturday in order to play the following day. Rodgers said Tuesday that he's gradually ramped up his conditioning work while he's been away from the team, and the lack of on-field practice reps in advance of the game against Seattle should hinder him less from a preparation standpoint compared to a more inexperienced player. In the event Rodgers experiences a setback in his recovery from the virus and isn't able to play this weekend, backup Jordan Love will keep himself prepared to make a second straight start.
