Trade Targets for Week 7 (Fantasy Football)
Another week, another smattering of injuries. I know we do this every year, but this season does seem particularly unforgiving in the injury department. We lost Jalen Hurts for the season (prayers up on this one), Terry McLaurin is out for the season with a torn patellar tendon, Davante Adams will miss extended time, Mike Evans is dealing with Achilles tendonitis (where have we heard that one before?), and Romeo Doubs and Jacory Croskey-Merritt are headed to IR. It’s a rough game, folks.
Big shout-out to my guy, Chris Cash, for filling in for me while I was visiting Mickey Mouse and friends last week. I am back with tired feet and a much lighter wallet.
Let’s dive into Week 7 trade targets.
Players to Trade For
Ollie Gordon
I love trading for players who have already had their bye weeks, especially when you trade away one who has not. Before the bye, Gordon strung together three top-20 RB performances against tough competition (KC, @MIN, CIN), and he scored a TD in each of those games. His schedule lightens up considerably the rest of the season, and it seems Gordon has grasped firm control of this backfield.
In his three full games as Miami’s starting RB, Gordon has rushed the ball 44 times for 229 yards, 5.2 YPC. While Miami looks like a college football team, handing the ball off to Gordon may be the best chance the Dolphins have at keeping a game close this season.
Ollie Gordon currently leads the league in explosive rush rate when seeing at least 1.0 yard before contact per attempt 👀

Kyren Williams
Here come the Blake Corum truthers, yet again. Despite a 72%/28% snap share split in favor of Williams, Corum outscored the Rams RB1 in Week 6. This is bound to happen from time to time. In the end, Kyren has always prevailed in this backfield. I would have defended Kyren based on this alone, but now we have a long-term injury to WR2 Davante Adams, and I am even more bullish on Williams moving forward.
Kyren’s pass-catching has been a real revelation this season. His 39 targets through six games are just 11 short of his career high for a season. He is on pace for 110 targets on the year, which is Bijan Robinson (103 targets in 2025) level of elite. And yet, I still feel that Kyren is considered a boring player in the fantasy world. If you want to tell me that RB5 in full-PPR is boring, then I will be acquiring boring all day long.
A.J. Brown
Brown came back from a stint on IR and immediately commanded 10 targets! That is the good news. The bad news is he had five drops and caught only three of those targets for 27 yards. The Ballers noted that he looked sluggish out there as well, and the common sentiment was that maybe he came back a week or two earlier than he should have. Regardless, it’s only a matter of time before Brown gets back into football shape and reminds us why we were all so excited to see him land in New England. Drake Maye has seemingly turned his season around as well. With improved QB play and Romeo Doubs headed to IR, Brown should feast in the coming weeks.
You may be thinking that the Brown manager in your league seems unlikely to trade him away after waiting six weeks for his return. That is certainly possible. However, if that manager is sitting at/near the bottom of your league standings, he/she may not feel the luxury of waiting for Brown to get back into shape. A 1-5 or 2-4 team needs to win now, and they know Brown is a desirable asset. Also, the Patriots’ schedule will be pretty daunting down the stretch. If the Brown manager in your league sees that, they may see this as the perfect sell window, and you may be able to get a deal done slightly below market.
A.J. Brown on his play in his return:
"There's no excuses…Just trying to get going again…Put this to bed really fast, I'm gonna watch the tape, and it's over, imma flush it."

Players to Trade Away
Emeka Egbuka (Eggbigboo)
Coming off back-to-back top-20 finishes, things are pointing up for Ebuka. However, in four of his last six games, Egbuka’s YPC has been under seven yards, and his YPT has been under five yards. This offense looks kind of putrid, regardless of who is playing QB, and I do not really want any part of it. I would also trade away Chris Godwin, but Egbuka has the name value and recent production to get you a better deal at this point.
Egbuka is WR24 on the season, and I would trade him for similarly ranked players such as Luther Burden, Michael Wilson, Jalen Coker, or Carnell Tate in a heartbeat.
Josh Downs
Downs is this week’s Omarion Hampton: a player I have just given up hope on for this season. Everything seemed to be lining up for a breakout season for Downs, but the production is just not there. Despite three games with 8+ targets, Downs has 50 yards only twice this year, and he has not found the end zone at all. With Alec Pierce and Tyler Warren both out in Week 6, it was 57-year-old Keenan Allen who led the Colts in targets, receptions, and yardage.
Downs is sitting at WR44 on the season in full-PPR. He has finished (incredibly) as WR43, WR35, and WR44 in his last three seasons. At this point, I am afraid he is what he is.
I was just thinking about how cool it is that Josh Downs and Emeka Egbuka got the exact role changes I was hoping for this season and it just hasn’t mattered at all for their production. Very cool. https://t.co/78rBJfJ4kE

JJ McCarthy
As noted wordsmith, President George W. Bush, famously said, “Fool me once, shame on – shame on you; fool me – you can’t get fooled again.” JJ may very well take over the starting job in New York, but I just do not believe he is good at football. At least not compared to the standard for an NFL QB. He will undoubtedly have a few good performances, as he is throwing to one of the best WR/TE duos in the league in Malik Nabers and Isaiah Likely. However, I believe this is probably as excited as people will ever be about McCarthy all season. If you grabbed him off waivers in anticipation of, or in response to, the trade to NY, I am selling on whatever hype there may be.
Special note/update
I would still trade away every WR from the 2024 class, with the exception of Malik Nabers. This would be a good time to sell Marvin Harrison Jr., Xavier Worthy, Ladd McConkey, Rome Odunze, and Brian Thomas Jr., as they are all killing teams.
Hit Me Up!
Keep those questions coming on X @kempertrull, and I will see you in the fantasy streets!
