  • The hosts express their excitement for the holiday season, intertwining it with their love for football. They discuss getting into the festive spirit, reflecting a blend of joyous anticipation and humor related to Christmas traditions. One of the hosts humorously struggles to embrace the holiday cheer due to warm weather in Phoenix, emphasizing how the weather doesn’t align with typical winter experiences, making it hard to feel like it’s truly the Christmas season.

  • The discussion turns to the effects of living in a warmer climate on their holiday feelings. The lack of changing seasons in Arizona leaves some hosts reminiscing about their childhoods in places with snow, where the transition into winter would typically be felt through colder temperatures and seasonal changes. They touch on the nostalgia of a “white Christmas” and how that contrast creates a disconnect for those living in warmer regions.

NFL Injury Updates and Impact on Fantasy Football 05:44

“Romeo Dobbs is out… Trevor Lawrence is on IR with a concussion and shoulder injury.”

  • The hosts provide crucial updates on NFL injuries relevant to fantasy football enthusiasts. They discuss key players like Romeo Dobbs and Trevor Lawrence, whose absences could significantly impact their fantasy teams. Additionally, they highlight other players’ statuses, like Josh Jacobs being off the injury report, and touch upon how these injury reports could shift fantasy rankings and strategies as the playoffs approach.

The Intricacies of Player Transactions and Team Dynamics 08:39

“If Deontay Johnson goes to Baltimore and balls out… his agent goes and gets him a nice fat contract.”

  • Analyzing the recent suspension of Deontay Johnson, the hosts discuss the implications of player behavior on contract negotiations and team decisions. They highlight how Johnson’s actions could directly affect his market value and future opportunities, reinforcing that players must consider their performance not just in terms of the present season but also in relation to career longevity and potential contracts. The conversation reveals how well-run organizations may shy away from players with negative reputations, impacting both the player and teams looking to invest in talent.

Pittsburgh’s Unique Drafting Strategy 09:57

“They look for the crazy ones… You got to have some diva in you.”

  • The Pittsburgh Steelers have a distinctive approach to drafting wide receivers, often targeting players who possess a certain level of personality or “diva” qualities. The franchise has a track record of successfully selecting standout receivers from the second round, exemplified by names like Antonio Brown, Claypool, and Pickens.
  • This strategy seems to be rooted in their scouting efforts, which involve evaluating not just the player’s skills but also their off-field behavior and potential trouble. The team appears to embrace players who may come with some baggage, seeing these traits as part of what makes a successful athlete.

Diontae Johnson‘s Situation 10:43

“Clearly, he’s been upset about not being involved earlier.”

  • Deontay Johnson, a current player for the Steelers, has shown signs of frustration regarding his level of involvement in the game. This issue may signal rising tensions within the team dynamic, especially in relation to the coaching decisions regarding who gets playing time.
  • The discussion revolves around how players like Johnson are managed and the potential repercussions of their dissatisfaction on team morale and performance.

Starts of the Week – Baker Mayfield 11:50

“I’m going Baker Mayfield against the Las Vegas Raiders.”

  • For the upcoming week, Baker Mayfield is highlighted as a starting consideration due to his challenging week prior but favorable matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. Despite recent struggles, Mayfield is still viewed as a high-potential quarterback.
  • His stats are strong, and he is expected to perform better this week, particularly with the support of key players like Mike Evans, as they face a Raiders defense that has been underwhelming.

Jameis Winston‘s Volatility 13:34

Jameis Winston is volatile… He’s holding a stick of dynamite.”

  • Jameis Winston is another recommended start, characterized by his risk-reward nature in fantasy football. With playoffs approaching, he could bring explosive scoring potential, which is crucial for underdog teams looking to make a strong push.
  • However, Winston’s unpredictability can also lead to disappointing performances, meaning he is both a risky and exciting choice for fantasy managers needing an upside play.

Will Levis as a Streaming Option 15:40

“I really do believe that Will Levis is a guy that you can turn to this week.”

  • Will Levis is positioned as a viable streaming option for fantasy players in upcoming matchups. Facing Jacksonville, whose defense has struggled significantly, Levis is expected to capitalize on this opportunity to pile up points.
  • This recommendation is reinforced by the Jets’ current condition and the tendency for games against Jacksonville to yield high scores, making him an appealing pick.

Isaac Guerendo Value 17:48

“Put him in. Start him. He’s going to be fine.”

  • Isaac Garendo has emerged as a notable waiver wire pickup, recommended to start against the Chicago Bears. Despite not being an established starter, his impressive speed and performance suggest he has serious potential to make an impact.
  • Garendo’s situation exemplifies the opportunities that can arise from playing in a high-profile offense and taking advantage of a weak opposing defense.

Fantasy Performance Overview for Key Players 19:48

“He has been producing, but it’s been weird because the dude loves to fumble.”

  • The discussion highlights the performance of a player who has shown inconsistency despite his contributions to the New York Giants. Initially facing a dip in snap counts, he moved back to being the primary option with a significant increase to 73% of snaps after a brief punishment period. This player has a favorable matchup against teams with poor defensive statistics.

Player Matchup Insights 20:24

“This week is a redemption opportunity for Darnell Mooney, who has been bad the last two weeks.”

  • Darnell Mooney has struggled recently, largely due to poor quarterback performance from Kirk Cousins. The matchup against a team that allows significant points to wide receivers presents a chance for Mooney to regain his form. Critics suggest starting him, primarily due to the volume of receiving opportunities he could get against a vulnerable defense.

Jauan Jennings Performance Trends 21:41

“Jawan Jennings should be in your lineup. He is a great start.”

  • Jawan Jennings has shown promise earlier in the season with solid performances when given opportunities. Despite some setbacks due to injury and quarterback changes, if given the chance, he has the potential for significant targets. His recent target volumes indicate he remains a reliable option amid a week that features multiple bye weeks for other players.

Tight End Recommendations and Matchups 24:50

“Cincinnati cannot defend tight ends.”

  • Tight ends, particularly Jake Ferguson and Pat Freiermuth, are highlighted as favorable starts due to their respective matchups against defenses that struggle against the position. The analysis suggests targeting these players, especially against Cincinnati’s weakened defense, which significantly gives up points to tight ends and ranks poorly in defending against them.

Cade Otton and Other Tight End Considerations 26:01

“Cade Otten’s matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders is so desirable.”

  • Despite a rough patch, Cade Otten’s involvement in the offense continues to grow, indicated by substantial target volumes in recent games. Analysts note he remains a viable option due to the Raiders’ poor defensive performance against tight ends, suggesting he can turn things around and possibly find success this week.

Game Analysis: Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Tennessee Titans 28:57

“Tennessee at home is favored by 3.5 points, with an over-under of 39.5.”

  • The upcoming game features the struggling Jacksonville Jaguars, currently at 2-10, facing off against the Tennessee Titans, who are sitting at 3-9. While the Jaguars seem to be fighting for a better draft position, the Titans appear to have a slight edge in this matchup, favored by 3.5 points according to DraftKings Sportsbook. The over-under for this game is set at 39.5, indicating a likely low-scoring affair, which divides into an expected 21 points for Tennessee and 18 for Jacksonville.

Fantasy Insights: Players to Consider 29:41

“Avoid ancillary options and go with the primary guys.”

  • A major concern for fantasy managers in this matchup is the performance of Mack Jones, who may struggle to generate enough scoring opportunities on the road against the Titans. As a result, it’s advised to focus on primary players rather than taking risks with ancillary receivers from the Jaguars, such as Parker Washington or Evan Engram. Brian Thomas, despite a recent strong performance, should be closely monitored due to his low catch rate on targets.

Running Backs Performance: Evaluating Options 30:21

“If I have to start one, it would be Travis Etienne.”

  • In the running back situation for Jacksonville, Travis Etienne emerges as the clearer choice due to his increased volume in recent games. While both Jacksonville running backs pose risks, Etienne is the preferred option, whereas Tank Bigsby is not recommended due to the availability of better alternatives on the market.

Quarterback Dynamics: Levis and Other Options 31:31

“Levis has demonstrated a wide receiver nine finish this year.”

  • The discussion about quarterbacks includes Will Levis who has achieved a noteworthy finish this season, even resulting in high rankings against tough opponents. For fantasy players, there is consideration of various quarterbacks due to the variability in performance, especially with backup options possibly stashed in leagues.

Jets’ Wide Receiver Situation: Must-Starts Despite Struggles 33:02

“You start all three: Brees Hall, Garrett Wilson, and Devontae Adams.”

  • The Jets’ dire straits do not diminish the fantasy viability of key players like Brees Hall, Garrett Wilson, and Devontae Adams. Even with Wilson’s recent underwhelming performances, the target volume he receives suggests he can bounce back, especially as he continues to play well despite a struggling quarterback situation. The upcoming matchup presents opportunities for these players, and their possession of substantial target volume keeps their starting status intact.

Tyreek Hill‘s Future: Concerns with Performance 35:28

Tyreek Hill‘s cryptic posts raise questions about his future.”

  • Tyreek Hill’s recent social media activity has sparked speculation about his future in the league, particularly following ambiguous posts that hint at retirement. Despite not being a top performer recently, he still garners discussion due to his touchdown history in prior games. The conversation shifts to how he compares to other players like Juwan Jennings in the upcoming matchup, noting that while Hill’s yardage has dipped, he should still be prioritized over Jennings.

Backup Options for Achane 38:00

“My answer to that was no one. However, if you wanted to pick one, I’d pick Wright.”

  • The discussion centers on identifying a reliable backup for HN, and opinions suggest there isn’t one that stands out. The main candidates mentioned are Raheem Mostert and Jalen Wright, with a preference for Wright if forced to choose, due to concerns about potential catastrophic outcomes.

Team Performance Insights 39:00

“The offense would have to change so drastically if HN is not on the field.”

  • The conversation highlights how crucial HN is to the team’s current offensive strategy, noting that his absence would require significant adjustments. The effectiveness of key players, such as Tyreek Hill, may be impacted depending on the offensive scheme changes necessitated by HN’s unavailability.

Future Game Analysis and Predictions 40:10

“Minnesota’s just right in the thickest… They can easily win that game.”

  • The analysis shifts to upcoming matchups, particularly focusing on the Minnesota Vikings. It discusses their competitive standing, the potential for them to win against the Atlanta Falcons, and considers the ramifications for the overall playoff picture. There seems to be a consensus about Minnesota being in a favorable position to secure victories in their upcoming games.

Player Evaluations and Fantasy Considerations 42:30

“As hesitant as I was for the Darnell Mooney play, I was even more bullish on Bijan.”

  • Insights are shared regarding various players’ performances, particularly focusing on Bijan Robinson and his receiving capabilities. This section emphasizes the importance of fantasy football strategy, considering players who can positively influence outcomes, especially when assessed against their defences.

Malik Nabers‘ Struggles and Fantasy Potential 47:01

“Malik Neighbors has not been a top 24 wide receiver since week four.”

  • Malik Neighbors is currently facing significant challenges, having not ranked among the top 24 wide receivers since week four of the season. Despite being on pace for an impressive 182.8 targets, with projections showing 123.3 receptions for about 1,000 yards, his performance lacks in efficiency and scoring opportunities, as he has yet to land a touchdown this season.
  • The struggles are attributed to poor quarterback performance and a team that has experienced many losses, reflected in his low fantasy points—over 10 in just three of the last six games.
  • The speaker believes that despite these issues, Neighbors possesses the talent needed to contribute, especially with the potential for explosive plays. However, the current state of the team’s offense significantly limits his upside.

Matchup Comparisons for Starting Decisions 49:00

“It’s Malik Neighbors in the flex or Chuba Hubbard? I’d go Neighbors there.”

  • The discussion involves comparing Malik Neighbors to various other players to determine who may be the better start in fantasy lineups. In the context of decisions between Neighbors and players like Jamison Williams or Juwan Jennings, opinions vary but lean towards Neighbors due to his volume of targets and potential.
  • The potential for Neighbors to break away for a touchdown makes him appealing, though the inconsistency in his performance raises doubts about his reliability.
  • Additionally, there is a consideration for Kendra Miller as a speculative play given his potential increase in opportunities, though there is hesitation surrounding his actual start due to past performance and current backup status.

Concerns with the Panthers and Eagles Matchup 53:12

“The problem with this game for fantasy purposes for the Panthers is how good the Philadelphia defense is.”

  • The upcoming match between the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles raises questions about the viability of players on the Panthers, particularly Bryce Young and Chuba Hubbard. The Eagles have displayed a dominant defense, which presents a significant challenge for the Panthers’ offense.
  • Despite having a strong showing in previous weeks, Bryce Young‘s ability to perform in this tough matchup is uncertain. Furthermore, there is skepticism regarding Chuba Hubbard‘s rushing yards projection, given the Eagles’ formidable defensive lineup.
  • The discussion points out Saquon Barkley as a critical player for the Eagles, highlighting the stark contrast in defensive performance. The Panthers have struggled against rushers, which makes Barkley a strong candidate to thrive in this matchup.

Insights on Player Performance and Matchups 56:42

A.J. Brown and Saquon Barkley alone can beat the Panthers with the best defense in football.”

  • The discussion centers around the upcoming game where A.J. Brown and Saquon Barkley are considered key players who can lead their team to victory over the Panthers, despite the Panthers’ strong defensive reputation.
  • Devontae Smith’s potential absence could lead to a heavier workload for A.J. Brown, allowing for more offensive opportunities and making Brown a vital play.
  • The Panthers’ defense, although highly rated, had previously shown vulnerabilities last season which were transformed into strengths. They most recently held the Ravens to just 19 points, including a meaningless touchdown in the final seconds.
  • Players like Adam Thielen and David Moore may see increased targets in a PPR format, indicating their potential value in fantasy football for this matchup.

Focus on Grant Calcaterra as a Tight End Option 57:44

“If Devontae Smith is out and Dallas Goddard is out, Grant Calcaterra is a very nice, you know, cheap option.”

  • With Dallas Goddard expected to miss the game, Grant Calcaterra emerges as a viable low-cost fantasy option, especially if Devontae Smith also doesn’t play.
  • Calcaterra previously showcased a solid target share when he received substantial playing time, hinting at his capability to contribute significantly if given the opportunity.
  • The Panthers are noted to be one of the weakest defenses against tight ends, positioning Calcaterra favorably for production in this matchup.

Analysis of the Steelers vs. Browns Game 58:44

“The Steelers have won 20 consecutive home games against the Browns.”

  • The upcoming Steelers vs. Browns game is highlighted as a critical matchup, with Pittsburgh favored by a margin of 6.5 points.
  • The historical context shows that the Steelers have a dominant record against the Browns at home, underscoring their consistency in this rivalry.
  • Both teams have unique offensive dynamics, with attention drawn to Nick Chubb‘s performance and the suggested risk-reward factor of Jameis Winston for fantasy players.

Potential Outcomes for Quarterbacks and Key Players 59:42

“He is a risk to some degree in this specific matchup, but the upside potential is there.”

  • While assessing quarterback options, Jameis Winston is identified as a risky but high-upside choice, suggesting that he could deliver significant points despite potential pitfalls.
  • On the other hand, Russell Wilson is noted for safer production and more consistent yardage, given his recent performance with the Steelers.
  • The effectiveness of both quarterbacks will depend heavily on game conditions, including weather and game flow.

Game Preview and Player Insights 01:06:13

“I will be riding on super buy week with a Don Tavian Wicks in tonight’s game.”

  • The speaker shares their excitement about an upcoming game, specifically mentioning the inclusion of player Don Tavian Wicks in their lineup.
  • They point out the high scoring potential of the matchup, suggesting that it’s a great opportunity to capitalize on favorable conditions and performance.
  • The speaker notes the situational context of the game, indicating that with a banged-up player Jacob and a strong defense from Detroit, the focus should shift to Wicks, along with other players like Watson and Reed.

Lineup Considerations 01:06:31

“Wicks was in on 89% of the snaps. It was his highest of the year last year.”

  • The speaker emphasizes the importance of player snap counts as a factor for fantasy football lineups, highlighting Wicks’ increased presence in the game as a sign of potential.
  • Suggesting that despite other considerations, focusing on emerging talents like Wicks can pay off, especially in matchups where running the ball may be challenging.
  • This may indicate that fantasy players should be open to taking calculated risks with their lineups, specifically opting for less conventional picks that could lead to a payoff.

Matchup Expectations and Transition 01:07:04

“We’ll close it out on that. More matchups tomorrow.”

  • The discussion wraps up with a transition to future content, indicating that there will be more detailed matchup analyses in upcoming discussions.
  • It invites viewers to stay engaged, hinting at a fun and competitive atmosphere among the hosts regarding their performance, particularly singling out Mike for some light-hearted banter about potential loss.

Michael Dymzarov says:

You guys come off lazy when you suggest that Danny Drops is better than anyone, but there is such an obvious mode of comparison for Devito and Drops. I know you can read stat lines so please explain to me how Drops is better???
In 2023 they both started six games for the Giants, Drops had a healthier group of starters, but for the sake of argument, we’ll say they had the same team around them;
Record: Drops 1-5, Devito 3-3(win for Devito)
Completion %/yards per attempt: Drops 67.5/5.7, Devito 64/6.2(call it a draw)
Yardage(passing/rushing): Drops 909/206, Devito 1,101/195(win for Devito)
TD/INT: Drops 2/6, Devito 8/3(Devito fatality)
Fumbles/lost: Drops 4/1, Devito 2/1(I’m giving this one to Devito)
How is Danny Drops better??? Even this year Devito has one of the best starts of the year for NYG. I think he is better than Lock is right now as well. Maybe if Lock gets another year in Daboll’s system, he is the better QB, but not so far and quite frankly at no point in his career. The truth is Devito is probably a slightly better NFL QB than Jones or Lock, but is definitely in the same category of backup QB, at least with the Daboll Giants.
Weird how Drops hasn’t been elevated off the practice squad in MIN, hmmm… If I’m trying to get to the playoffs and beyond, I wouldn’t start him over Mullens either and it would be a real tough call between Drops and Rypien(farts), looks like front office in MIN agrees, but why not take him on for a few thousands as a less than 4th string practice safety, but I’m sure the Giants would be doing better if only he was still there…SARCASM!
I know this missive seems kind of harsh, but I meant to be mostly jokey. I get you can’t watch every game and once a player is no longer fantasy relevant they are no longer in your wheel house. Just a little weird after the last two years, especially and first four years, to still hear people suggesting Drops is a better option than anyone, much less someone who has proven themselves better.
