Newton has thrown for 183 yards or fewer in seven of his last nine games. He’s had four games with only one passing touchdown, and he played five games where he failed to have a passing touchdown. In fact, one of those games came against the New Orleans Saints. It was Newton’s worst game of the season as he threw for only 167 yards with three interceptions. It’s one of a couple reasons you may get Newton at a low ownership, which is a bit more important with a smaller slate. The Panthers have the third lowest team total this week, and Newton and his offense has not looked good of late. With that said, he’s a great cash game option, because of his floor, but it’s his ceiling that you should be after.

Sure, it feels good to look at the game log and see five straight with at least 51 rushing yards, and even better to see he’s hit at least the 44 rushing yard mark in 11 of his last 13 games. It’s like starting with a touchdown as he leads all quarterbacks with 754 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns. Out of all the QB’s going this week, Newton has the most 30 point fantasy showings. He has three of them, and one came three games ago. Alex Smith has the other two by the way.
