Each week I’ll highlight my favorite GPP picks that I have some confidence heading into the weekend to put into my player pools. For more on GPP strategy and the mechanics of it, make sure you listen to our DFS GPP Overview episode. On the Fantasy Footballers DFS Podcast, Betz and myself will dive into a couple of these but this article is intended for DFS Pass subscribers to get the full lay of the land.

Quarterbacks

Selecting QBs for GPPs is about finding stacking partners that also give you leverage on the field. Remember QB roster percentages are relatively flat. Nevertheless, refer to the FanDuel cash game picks and then add these guys in the mix of players who are contrarian.

Patrick Mahomes– $8,700
The Chiefs have the highest implied total (30) of the week and Andy Reid knows how to coach up his boys to start the year. Since Mahomes became the starting QB, Kansas City has averaged over 36 points per game. On top of that, Mahomes’s splits on the road are historic. He’s averaged 316 yards and a seven percent TD rate. Double stacking him or hoping he runs one in is a great strategy knowing his roster percentage isn’t as high with Hurts and Lamar soaking up so much of the roster percentages.

Justin Herbert vs LV- $8,400
I still can’t understand why the Chargers aren’t showing up higher in our roster percentages. Double-stacking Herbert is expensive but the Raiders’ pass defense is susceptible to monster games. The Raiders allowed the 6th most points per drive and the 7th highest expected points added per pass attempt. Last year he torched them (222/3 & 383/3) and with the 2nd highest total on the slate, we should see similar fireworks. Get creative with his stacking partners. Be open to Gerald Everett or Joshua Palmer as well.

Joe Burrow vs PIT- $7,700
Burrow is getting lost in the mix this week showing up around five percent, making him an excellent GPP play.  From Week 6 on, he was on a 5100-yard pace. At home, he’s been a monster. Last year in Cincinnati, Burrow averaged 331 & 2 at home. In his two games versus Pittsburgh last year, he completed 78 & 83 % of his passes for five total TDs. Double stacking Burrow is a great route to gain leverage considering all the CIN pass-catchers are coming in lower in our Roster Percentage Report.
