Game Outlook
Week 7 in the NFL kicks off on Thursday night with an awesome on-paper matchup featuring the Patriots traveling to Chicago to take on the Bears with both clubs sitting at 4-2 after six weeks of football. The total here is set just above 50 points, making this one of the higher projected scoring environments of any game on the Week 7 slate. Through six weeks, Patriot games are 3-3 to the over, but with their offense finally clicking in recent weeks, their games have hit the over in three straight with New England exceeding their team total in all three of those contests against the Jets, Raiders and Bills. On the Chicago side, it’s been a weird season with Caleb missing Weeks 3-5 after leaving Week 2 because of his hamstring injury. We saw the offense look inconsistent at times with Bagent and Keenum under center, so I’m not putting too much stock into their season long numbers. In games where Caleb started and finished the game (Weeks 1 and 6), Chicago was 2-0 ATS and both of those games hitting the over. All told, the high total here does make sense given that the Patriots come into this one averaging 33.3 points per game over their last three with the Bears putting up 30+ points in both of Caleb’s starts. The weather also looks pristine here for a late October night in Chicago – temps should be in the mid to upper 50s without much wind at all.
