The Falcons finally found the opportunity to get Russell Gage involved in the offense and he responded with a monster game. He caught 11 of his 12 targets for 130 yards but didn’t find the end zone in their loss to Tampa Bay. This may be touching the ceiling of Gage’s production but the Falcons need wins which should mean more opportunity for Gage to continue to help move the chains and be in involved in big plays. They will face Carolina, San Francisco, and Detroit over the next three weeks but they have a tough matchup against Buffalo in Week 17.
Speaking of a team that needs to win… desperately, in this case… The Vikings will likely be without star WR Adam Thielen for the foreseeable future after he sprained his ankle in Week 13. K.J. Osborn saw an immediate uptick in targets after Thielen went down in the first quarter. He hauled in four of his seven targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in a shootout against the Lions, of all teams. The Vikings schedule does not get any easier down the stretch, but that just means more opportunity for Osborn to score points as QB Kirk Cousins will likely have to rely on his arm to keep pace and try to win out.
As someone who has been pounding the table for Patriots WR Kendrick Bourne, the game last night could have been disappointing in one respect. However, the 40 mph winds, freezing temps, and slippery conditions simply removed all pass catchers from the equation before the game even started. That simply means that Bourne might be neglected from your league’s waiver priority and FAAB considerations. He is a hit or miss wide receiver, but rookie QB Mac Jones has been looking his way, especially for big plays in the end zone, more and more as the season progresses and Bourne turned those opportunities into two touchdowns in Week 12. The big downside is that he won’t help you in Week 14 as the Patriots go on Bye.
DeVante Parker is one of those players that can be easily forgotten until he explodes with fantasy points. He had a quiet game in his first matchup back since injury, but that doesn’t necessarily mean his production will stay that way. He has an uncanny way of being a big difference-maker. He is likely rostered, but is worth an add if he is available in your league for the fantasy playoffs. Also, if Julio Jones is somehow available in your league, he is a must-add as he is now eligible to return to practice.

Running Backs
Team | Player | Roster % | Upcoming |
CAR | Chuba Hubbard | 77% | vs ATL @ BUF vs TB @ NO |
NYJ | Tevin Coleman | 48% | vs NO @ MIA vs JAX vs TB |
HOU | Rex Burkhead | 30% | vs SEA @ JAX vs LAC @ SF |
SF | JaMycal Hasty | 2% | @ CIN vs ATL @ TEN vs HOU |
SF | Jeff Wilson | 30% | @ CIN vs ATL @ TEN vs HOU |
TEN | Dontrell Hilliard | 49% | vs JAX @ PIT vs SF vs MIA |
TEN | D’Onta Foreman | 42% | vs JAX @ PIT vs SF vs MIA |
PHI | Kenneth Gainwell | 24% | BYE vs WAS vs NYG @ WAS |
PHI | Jordan Howard | 13% | BYE vs WAS vs NYG @ WAS |
PHI | Boston Scott | 47% | BYE vs WAS vs NYG @ WAS |
CAR | Ameer Abdullah | 9% | vs ATL @ BUF vs TB @ NO |
SEA | Adrian Peterson | 23% | @ HOU @ LAR vs CHI vs DET |
SEA | Rashaad Penny | 12% | @ HOU @ LAR vs CHI vs DET |
CIN | Samaje Perine | 10% | vs SF @ DEN vs BAL vs KC |
JAX | Carlos Hyde | 13% | @ TEN vs HOU @ NYJ @ NE |
First and foremost, check to see if Chuba Hubbard is available and swoop him up immediately if he is not rostered. The Panthers were on a bye last week and he may have been dropped to make room for startable players in Week 13. Dontrell Hilliard falls in the same boat and is also a must-add if he is available.
If the 49ers continue to stick with the run, adding JaMycal Hasty could possibly win you your week in fantasy. RB Elijah Mitchell is in concussion protocol and Jeff Wilson Jr. is banged up. WR Deebo Samuel, who has been acting as a running back, is also injured, but trying to make a Week 14 return. Depending on how these injury statuses progress through the week, Hasty could be the main guy vs the Bengals this week.
It’s crazy to think that we are talking about Adrian Peterson (again) in 2021, but here we are. In his first game active for the Seahawks, Peterson turned 11 carries into a paltry 16 yards, but did score a touchdown. Seattle spread the run around between their backs including Rashaad Penny, DeeJay Dallas and Travis Homer, so the volume isn’t as beautiful as we would like it. However, finding a running back on the waiver wire at this time of year is nearly impossible. The Seahawks have a juicy matchup in Week 14 against the Texans and then face the Rams, Bears, and the Lions.
Let’s stay on the 2017 train and take a look at Tevin Coleman from the Jets. He had 11 carries for 58 yards as well as three receptions on four targets for 19 yards. Rookie RB Michael Carter is not eligible to return from IR until Week 15 so Coleman will have least one more viable matchup for fantasy managers. The matchups aren’t great, but we like volume in fantasy. The Jets face the Saints, Dolphins, Jaguars, and then the Buccaneers to finish out the season.
Finally, since we’re living a blast from the past, why not bring up Carlos Hyde, as gross as it may be. Hyde could be worth an add in deeper leagues, but is entirely dependent on the health and productivity of James Robinson. Robinson was banged up heading into last week’s game and had an unfortunate fumble early that sidelined him for a time. During that time Hyde split time between Laviska Shenault and rushed nine times for 24 yards and found the end zone. It’s not fun relying on a running back who plays for a team who rarely leads, but that’s just where we are right now in terms of backs on the waiver wire.

Tight Ends
Team | Player | Roster % | Upcoming |
MIN | Tyler Conklin | 31% | vs PIT @ CHI vs LAR @ GB |
WAS | Ricky Seals-Jones | 8% | vs DAL @ PHI @ DAL vs PHI |
One word sums up the list of tight ends available on the waiver wire. Yuck.
Tyler Conklin will have to step up for the Vikings much in the same way that Osborn will need to down the stretch. Conklin saw nine targets, seven receptions, and 56 yards. A touchdown would have given him a monster performance. With their tough schedule, it’s all hands on deck for the Vikings, which means opportunity for Conklin.
Logan Thomas had quite the injury scare on Sunday, but some good news came out of Washington on Monday. Thomas did not tear his ACL as previously feared but did suffer damage to his knee. His season may not be over yet, but it is unlikely we’ll see him on the field making glorious catches any time soon. That leaves Ricky Seals-Jones (insert seal noise here) up next. He was inactive in Week 13 with a lingering injury and also because Thomas was finally active. If he’s healthy, the WFT has opportunity for the tight end to produce against Dallas twice and Philadelphia twice.
I want to throw out an honorable mention to Foster Moreau who had the unthinkable task of trying to fill Darren Waller’s shoes. Let’s just say, it wasn’t great, but I am not quitting Moreau just yet as long as Waller is absent. His status has been upgraded to day-to-day as he tries to heal up his knee. The Raiders will face the Chiefs in Week 14 and they absolutely have the opportunity to do damage on offense. This game could be a close one and Derek Carr will need everyone to score points on the emerging Kansas City defense.
