Philadelphia Eagles at Buffalo Bills
1:00 PM ET
NEW ERA FIELD
ORCHARD PARK, NEW YORK

Temp: 59°
Precipitation: Chance of Light Drizzle
Wind: 24 mph
Wind Gusts: 36 mph

Fantasy Impact: One thing to note is that the winds inside New Era Field tend to whip around making the kickers in this game completely unplayable.

Carson Wentz and the Eagles’ passing game has suffered from injuries to DeSean Jackson and inconsistent play from the wide receivers (not looking at you Nelson Agholor, but…). Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert have combined to receive a 40% target market share or more in three of the last four games. I wouldn’t expect that to change, especially given the wind.

The wind is definitely a problem for Josh Allen and the Buffalo offense. Philadelphia’s defense has been strong against the run stunting opposing running backs to 3.32 yards per carry and a 10th ranked rushing DVOA. Their Achilles heel is pass defense where they’ve given up an average of 270.1 passing yards and two TDs to opposing QBs. This was supposed to be a great spot for Josh Allen and John Brown, but the wind may greatly reduce the Allen-Brown ceiling. With an injury to Duke Williams making him a game-time decision and the trade of Zay Jones, Robert Foster emerged as a sneaky GPP play but this should be enough to dash those hopes.

Allen and Brown are still playable in redraft if you don’t have better options. The chilly wind may give Allen a case of the Beasles (Cole Beasley if that wasn’t clear) who hasn’t done much lately turning nine targets into a 6/36/1 combined over the past two games, but averaged nine targets per game over Buffalo’s first four contests.

Fantasy Impact: This game will get breezier as the game wears on, but it’s not quite above the threshold where we start to get fancy with start/sit decisions. I would nab a kicker off the waiver wire instead of playing either of the kickers in this game.

Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots
4:25 PM ET
GILLETTE STADIUM
FOXBORO, MASSACHUSETTS

Temp: 54°
Precipitation: Rain
Wind: 15 mph
Wind Gusts: 30 mph

Fantasy Impact: This forecast is one to monitor hourly leading up to the game. The winds will be noticeable, but aren’t forecast to exceed the 20 mph we start to worry about. The rain is much the same story. It looks like there will be a steady, but light rain for a majority of the game. The rain will pick up as the game progresses leading up to the fourth quarter. This is one of those times where the weather probably won’t dictate the game plan for either team, but will only ensure that what probably would have happened will happen.

Neither team was likely to try and push the ball with deep shots downfield. The New York Jets crashed and burned trying to take deep shots against New England’s historically dominant defense. New England lost a deep threat while placing Josh Gordon on IR and traded for Mohamed Sanu who is known more for his chops as a possession and blocking WR.

With those factors in mind, this game was setting up for the running games of both teams with heavy doses of Jarvis Landry and Julian Edelman.  I don’t think the weather changes any of that or significantly downgrades Tom Brady or Baker Mayfield (who was unplayable because of the matchup anyways). The wet field might actually be a slight boost for Nick Chubb and Sony Michel where defenders may have a hard time reacting to ball carriers on a slick field. My crush in this game is James White who could see an uptick in targets if the field does get sloppy and Brady needs to operate closer to the line of scrimmage.
