Trade Targets for Week 6 (Fantasy Football)

My bruddah Kemper is at the beach this week, so I am taking over. He gets a vacation. I get to explain why you should consider trading the guy who just won you a matchup. Seems fair.

This week, we look beyond the fantasy points to find opportunities through injuries, changing workloads, and bye weeks. Your record matters, too. A 1-4 team needs a win, like, NOW, so we have to make moves for a chance in the fantasy playoffs.

The goal is to make your starting lineup better, even if that means buying after a good game or selling someone you still like.

Trade For

Rhamondre Stevenson, RB, NE

Do not buy Stevenson because he suddenly became a different player and stopped having buttery-fumbley-fingers; buy because TreVeyon Henderson is expected to miss multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain, creating a clearer path to more work for a back who just handled 16 touches against LV.

That is the kind of immediate RB2 help I want for a 1-4ish team, because you need to win now. Henderson is not out for the season, so you only get a temporary boost. Vrabel seems to trust him more than the other RBs. Do not overpay.

Tetairoa McMillan, WR, CAR

McMillan caught 14 passes for 192 yards and two TDs in his last game, so unless his manager did not have an internet connection, we are probably not getting a discount. This is a buy-at-a-fair-price recommendation, with CAR’s completed bye giving us an additional scheduled start compared with a similarly valued receiver whose week off is still ahead.

Jalen Coker is on track to return, so I am buying McMillan’s ceiling without assuming that monster workload becomes his weekly assignment. A Pickens-based offer is where I would start, especially for a roster with shaky bench options, but the extra available game is a tiebreaker and should not be overvalued.

Travis Kelce, TE, KC

Kelce gave managers two catches for 15 yards and then took a week off, which is not the strongest sales presentation. But it is a perfect time for us to strike. That makes me interested in the asking price, particularly with Tyquan Thornton headed to IR and Rashee Rice’s hamstring status still unresolved, leaving a potential opening for more involvement.

Having KC’s bye already handled adds to the appeal for anyone tired of auditioning a different TE every Sunday, although the schedule alone does not fix inconsistent volume. I would explore moving Freiermuth toward Kelce, adding only a small bench piece if necessary, because I am shopping for a reasonably priced upgrade.

Trade Away

Aaron Jones, RB, MIN

Jones just gave us 113 rushing yards and a TD, which makes this a much easier trade conversation than the one we might have after his workload shrinks. MIN now heads into its bye, with Jordan Mason expected back in Week 7, so I am not assuming those recent carry totals survive the reunion.

I would explore moving Jones, especially for a team that needs help immediately. Jones can still be useful, but I would rather shop him with that performance sitting at the top of his game log than wait to find out how much work Mason takes.

George Pickens, WR, DAL

Pickens just posted nine catches for 130 yards and a TD, so his trade resume is looking pretty sweet. That performance came with Lamb limited by a quad injury, and I am not pricing Pickens as though his target competition permanently disappeared.

McMillan is the receiver I would pursue through a Pickens-based offer, with CAR’s completed bye giving us another scheduled start compared with DAL. This is about finding someone willing to pay a premium after a ceiling game, not accepting two bench players that do not improve your team.

Pat Freiermuth, TE, PIT

Five catches for 44 yards looks a little different when two of them land in the end zone, and I would see whether Freiermuth’s big Sunday created a selling opportunity. PIT’s receiver injuries could help keep him involved, so this is not me declaring that his usefulness expires Tuesday afternoon.

I would explore moving him towards an upgrade with a small additional cost, or use him to address another position if I already have a TE I trust. Capitalize on the big week where he was blessed with positive TD variance to improve your lineup.
