Flex Options for Week 8 (Fantasy Football)
To those owners of players from the Texans, Saints, Giants, and 49ers, as well as the flex article regulars, welcome to another week of sifting through the muck in order to find some valuables! Last week saw Ryan Flournoy, Rico Dowdle, and TJ Hockenson come through for those who took the gamble. Jordan Mason finished as expected, and the other WRs mentioned were mediocre at best. This week brings new excitement to find gems ranked outside the top 24 RBs and top 36 WRs in the Fantasy Footballers weekly rankings.
Here are some names to consider:
Jalen Nailor, WR, Las Vegas Raiders
The article is coming out of the gate hot because the evidence is screaming at us: the New York Jets only cover the top pass catcher. Even if you do not want to roster a Raiders pass catcher, YOU NEED TO KNOW. It was mentioned in the Week 6 flex article, and the trend has continued:
Week 1: With no clear WR1 for the Titans, Wan’Dale Robinson and Carnell Tate tied in receiving yards.
Week 2: Matthew Golden led the Packers in receiving yards over Christian Watson despite Watson having 11 targets.
Week 3: Amon-Ra St. Brown was stifled to 19 receiving yards while Isaac TeSlaa had 66, Jameson Williams had 49, and Sam LaPorta had 44.
Week 4: Rome Odunze outperformed Luther Burden by a considerable amount, to the tune of 94 receiving yards, while Colston Loveland put up his season high in receptions and receiving yards.
Week 5: With KC Concepcion leaving the game due to injury, Isaiah Bond had more receiving yards than Denzel Boston for the first time this season.
Week 6: AJ Brown saw top defensive coverage in his return from IR, leaving 42 yards and a TD to Romeo Doubs before he was out with injury; 86 yards and a TD for DeMario Douglas; 48 yards and a TD for Hunter Henry.
Week 7: Malik Washington received top coverage while Caleb Douglas put up 70 yards with two TDs and Greg Dulcich produced 86 yards.
That is correct, folks: Dulcich had his highest receiving total since Brock Purdy‘s sixth career start, before Taylor Swift announced the Eras Tour. We are talking historical numbers available to alternate pass catchers, and we have to stay in the flames until shown otherwise.
Raiders TE Brock Bowers should receive top receiving coverage, which leaves Tre Tucker (WR24), Jalen Nailor (WR89), and Cody White (WR81) to reap the rewards. Nailor has more snaps, targets, and red zone targets, so I am giving him the shoutout, but pick your own poison because there is gold in those Jets hills.

Rachaad White, RB, Washington Commanders
Rachaad White is the lead back for Washington, and his snap percentage increased following Jacory Croskey-Merritt going to IR. White has led the RB room in receptions all season and now has more rushing work. Washington is hosting a Philadelphia Eagles defense that has allowed the fifth most rushing yards, sixth most receiving yards, and is trying really hard to be last in the league in tackle percentage. On top of that, the Eagles pass rush has been terrible, ranking 31st in sacks. In Week 7, the Eagles defense generated zero hits on the QB, and the Dallas Cowboys scored on 7/9 possessions. All the signs show White is primed to have a field day and beat his rank of RB26. Shout out: I was fully expecting Antonio Williams to be a name I could mention, but his weekly rank of WR26 puts him out of recommendation range. With the Eagles allowing three WRs to finish in the top 24 in Week 7, Williams has a great chance to outperform that rank.
Arizona Cardinals RB 1 (Jeremiyah Love or Tyler Allgeier)
The Cardinals are heading to Jerry’s World for a tilt against the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys lead the league in rushing yards allowed to the tune of 4.72 yards per carry. The Cowboys’ 3-4 record certainly has given teams the opportunity to run the clock out against them. That being said, teams who have lost to the Cowboys have scored an average of 23.66 points; the Cardinals have an implied scoring total of 24 points. Even after missing two weeks due to an ankle injury, Love leads the RBs in touches, rushing yards, and rushing TDs. Reports say Love has a decent chance to return to the lineup Week 8 for the opportunity to beat his RB26 rank. Should Love be ruled out, Tyler Allgeier, RB32, would see the majority of the red zone work for the Cardinals.
Ja’Kobi Lane, WR, Baltimore Ravens
Rookie Ja’Kobi Lane got the recommendation last week, but no Lamar Jackson led to a lackluster performance by the Ravens in general. It is still true that Lane made noise in training camp and saw targets in his first NFL game, but even more relevant is the fact that, in the games Lane has played, he is second in team targets and first in red zone targets. It is being reported that Lamar is close to 100% and is expected to play this week against the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills have given up the fourth-most passing yards in the league, even after a Week 7 bye. With Lamar and Derrick Henry drawing defensive attention, Ja’Kobi Lane should have the opportunity to outperform WR42.
Jakobi Meyers, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Fresh off the bye, Meyers and the Jaguars are hosting the tanking Indianapolis Colts. It is wild to realize the last time the Colts won a game in Jacksonville, Andrew Luck was their QB. Even before the Colts traded away All-Pro defensive tackle DeForest Buckner, the Jaguars had the fourth-highest implied points for the week. Meyers is one of the top targets for the horse boy, Trevor Lawrence, and is second among Jacksonville pass catchers in red zone targets. Leading the team in snap percentage, Meyers routes from all over the field and should outperform his WR47 rank against a deflating Indianapolis defense.
