Week 9 is here with a full complement of teams on bye and all kinds of QB shenanigans. “Play SuperFlex” they said. “It will be fun….” This is a great week to finagle some trades but don’t get too cute. Make sure you’re paying attention to bye weeks and extracting as much value as you can from trades.
Question #1 – Los Angeles Rams Backfield
Royce Freeman chillin on waivers…should I drop Henderson and pick him up? Etienne and McCaffrey both on bye so my options are very very limited – SomaCruz
Answer: This seems like a topical question for this week with so many players on bye. The short of it is, if you can roster both of these players, do it. Darrell Henderson Jr. seems to have a slight leg up. He’s played 57% and 47% of the snaps in the past two weeks. In those outings he’s racked up 30 carries for 92 yards and five receptions for an additional 59 yards. He also had a TD in Week 7. Royce Freeman has also been given plenty of run with the offense with 43% of the snaps two weeks ago and 53% last week. Despite a similar snap share, Freeman has only been given 21 carries for 110 yards, although he had a TD last week.
All that to say, it’s a near-even split between the two. I would expect more of the same this week with a slim preference for Henderson who seems to be getting a few extra touches. Matthew Stafford is questionable tomorrow and Green Bay is the 26th ranked rushing defense giving up an average of 132 rushing yards per game. Between Stafford’s injury and Green Bay’s susceptibility in the run game, I think both Freeman and Henderson Jr. will get borderline RB2 opportunities. The better fantasy day will probably belong to whichever player finds the end zone, but I actually think both players can slot in for a spot start. Rostering both might not be a bad idea if you have room on your roster and your opponent is desperate for an RB.
Question #2 – Trade
Trade Kincaid for Addison? – PoleSentWorth
Answer: PoleSentWorth also mentioned he has Travis Kelce. I don’t like this particular trade, but I like the idea of it. I think it’s a good idea to use Dalton Kincaid to tier up a WR or RB. You might even be able to piece a deal together like Dalton Kincaid and Garrett Wilson for CeeDee Lamb. There are just too many questions with Jordan Addison between the QB situation and Justin Jefferson coming back sometime soon-ish. One thing to keep in mind is K.C. has a bye next week, so I might hold off on trading Kincaid until then.
Question #3 – Waivers
Do I add Dotson or Demario Douglas PPR ? – ekreity
Answer: Demario Douglas has been a popular add this week but I don’t see the upside. He’s increased his snap share from a bit player to a regular with DeVante Parker and JuJu Smith-Schuster battling injuries but the New England offense has been awful. Even last week, he had a decent PPR day with five receptions but those receptions only went for 25 yards and it took seven targets to get there.
Jahan Dotson‘s season started slow, which was disappointing considering his solid rookie campaign where he put up seven TDs. He’s quietly put together a couple of solid outings the past two weeks turning 18 targets into 13 receptions for 151 yards and a TD. Given that Washington just traded away Chase Young and Montez Sweat, this offense will have to put up big scores to remain in games. I’d take Dotson all day.
Question #4 – Trade
Should I trade Keenan for Davante ? – rfdom
Answer: I generally like change when stud players are struggling but I don’t really see the path where Davante Adams becomes more valuable than Keenan Allen. Yes, Josh McDaniels is gone and Las Vegas seems to have given up on Jimmy Garoppolo, but we have to temper expectations with rookie Aidan O’Connell coming in.
There’s also the bye week issue. Las Vegas has their bye in Week 13 but the Chargers already had their bye Week 5. You’re losing a whole week to get a player that you hope will do exactly what your stud WR is doing. Hard pass.
Question #5 – Trade
Would you guys trade away Mostert and Jakobi Meyers for Swift? – Dub
Answer: Speaking of Raider WRs, this is the kind of trade I like. The Miami backfield is about to become crowded with De’Von Achane coming back and Jeff Wilson Jr. getting healthier. We just talked about the Raiders’ offense, which is likely to experience growing pains. How often are we going to be comfortable starting Meyers? And he still has a bye week coming up right before playoffs.
D’Andre Swift meanwhile has established himself as the guy in the Philadelphia backfield ever since Week 2 where he exploded for 25.6 points. Swift is a case of talent meeting opportunity. If you can swing a deal for him, do it.
Comments
Hey guys! In a 8 team Full PPR hometown league currently 4-5 Was offered to trade away Justin Jefferson for Dak and Devante Adams. Justin fields on my team should be coming back and I have AJB and Higgins as my WR 1 & 2. What do y’all think? With Jefferson outlook being rocky should I let someone else gamble with it and try to put together a win streak to make the playoffs?
What to do with bijan? Im a kid by the way. Other rbs gibbs and jaconds(did a trade early in the year). Thanks
Trade Saquon Barkley and Drake London for Aaron Jones and Devante Adams?
My other RBs are Henry, Hall and Moss
Other WRs are ARSB, Pittman and Douglas and Doubs.
Worth the hope that Jones and Adams bounce back?
