Avoids IR with knee sprain

Mariota (knee) will not be placed on injured reserve, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.

With Washington declining to place Mariota on injured reserve, the veteran quarterback appears set to avoid a long-term absence after aggravating his previously-injured knee in last Sunday's loss to the Colts. Jayden Daniels (elbow) is expected to start Sunday's game against the Giants.
