Destined for between-the-tackles role

Coleman is likely to serve as the Broncos' between-the-tackles complement to starter J.K. Dobbins this season, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

Coleman was selected in the fourth round of April's draft after completing his four-year college career with a 2025 campaign with Washington during which he compiled 758 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 156 carries over 12 contests. He also added 31 catches for 354 yards and two scores during his senior season. The Huskies played with an up-tempo style, so Coleman was on the field for all downs, resulting in him becoming a capable receiver and pass blocker. The running back is considered a more physical back than RJ Harvey, who is also set to serve as reserve option behind Dobbins this season, and as a result, Coleman could be ticketed to serve more frequently as a direct replacement for Dobbins.

Gets talked up by teammate

Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain said Tuesday that he's recognized growth in Nix during the offseason and anticipates the quarterback taking another step forward both on the field and as a leader in his third NFL season, Susanna Weir of the team's official site reports. "I think his cerebral approach to the game is off the charts," Surtain said. "I always say he's so poised, but he's always had that calm demeanor going into his third year just bringing all the guys together offensively and just being a tremendous leader on the team."

Prepping for passing game role

Harvey is expected to handle a key role in the Denver passing game in 2026, Jon Heath of USA Today reports. "That's where you felt the initial impact," Broncos coach Sean Payton said last week, in reference to Harvey's receiving ability. "And you saw marks of that in college and you also saw him as a runner. He's having a good camp in both areas [rushing and receiving], but [receiving] is certainly a strength of his."
