Week 7 DFS Injury Impact
Injuries and players missing time for other reasons are always a big deal in fantasy football but even more so in DFS where one player’s issues can completely alter an entire game and the next man up mantra becomes vital due to the salary cap nature of DFS. Thus, it’s important to stay on top of all the injury and suspension news before locking in your DFS lineups.
Editor’s note: DFS Pass buyers and #FootClan members will receive a “Gameday Alerts” email, one hour before the main kickoff on Sunday and Ben will be on Periscope at 11:30 AM ET.
Here are the most relevant players on the main slate (If you’re looking for injury news for the primetime slate, check out the primetime slate article) in danger of missing time or returning to action in Week 7:
Carolina Panthers @ Philadelphia Eagles – 1:00pm ET
OUT for the Eagles: Jay Ajayi and Darren Sproles
Upgrade: Corey Clement and Carson Wentz
No Ajayi and Sproles means we should see plenty of Clement in this one. Clement’s 12.8 opportunities per game average is notable, especially with a favorable matchup on the horizon at home against an average Panthers defense. However, these RB injuries also guarantee this offense runs through Wentz. Carson will look to stay hot against a Panthers defense that ranks 15th in passing yards allowed per game and 21st in Pass DVOA. Wentz has thrown for 300+ yards or 3 TD passes in three straight games and is one of my favorite plays of the week.
Cleveland Browns @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 1:00pm ET
Traded from the Browns: Carlos Hyde
OUT for the Buccaneers: Gerald McCoy
Upgrade: Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson
Hyde ranks ninth in the league in opportunities per game (20.7). Thus, Hyde being traded to the Jaguars opens up a ton of opportunities for both Chubb and Johnson. That’s exciting since both players are cheap on all DFS sites. Their outlook just got better too since McCoy will miss this game and the Buccaneers already rank 21st in Run DVOA. Chubb is a free square cash game lock and both he and Johnson make for solid tournament plays as well.
