Week 3 DFS Injury Impact
Injuries and players missing time for other reasons are always a big deal in fantasy football but even more so in DFS where one player’s issues can completely alter an entire game and the next man up mantra becomes vital due to the salary cap nature of DFS. Thus, it’s important to stay on top of all the injury and suspension news before locking in your DFS lineups.
Editor’s note: DFS Pass buyers will receive a “Gameday Alerts” email, one hour before the main kickoff on Sunday and Ben will be on Periscope at 11:30 AM ET.
Here are the most relevant players on the main slate (If you’re looking for injury news for the primetime slate, check out the primetime slate article) in danger of missing time or returning to action in Week 3:
Buffalo Bills @ Minnesota Vikings – 1:00pm ET
OUT for the Vikings: Dalvin Cook
Upgrade: Latavius Murray
Cook sitting out is a huge deal, especially since Jerick McKinnon is no longer on the Vikings. With Cook on the sidelines in 2017, Murray shared work with McKinnon and still managed to average 17.9 touches in 12 contests. The situation and matchup couldn’t be more favorable for Murray this week as the Vikings are currently 16.5 point favorites at home with an Implied Team Total of 28.5 points.
New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons – 1:00pm ET
OUT for the Saints: Mark Ingram
OUT for the Falcons: Keanu Neal and Deion Jones
Upgrade: Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas
Ingram’s suspension has predictably been good to Kamara, who has seen a healthy 19.5 opportunities per game through two weeks. Many of those chances have come through the air as Kamara has received 18 targets so far. With Neal and Jones remaining out in Atlanta, look for Kamara to light it up through the air against a defense missing key players that already struggled mightily to cover pass-catching RBs out of the backfield even before it lost players due to injury. In fact just last week, this Falcons defense gave up 14 receptions on 15 targets to Christian McCaffrey.
