Week 2 DFS Injury Impact
Injuries and players missing time for other reasons are always a big deal in fantasy football but even more so in DFS where one player’s issues can completely alter an entire game and the next man up mantra becomes vital due to the salary cap nature of DFS. Thus, it’s important to stay on top of all the injury and suspension news before locking in your DFS lineups.
Editor’s note: DFS Pass buyers will receive a “Gameday Alerts” email, one hour before the main kickoff on Sunday and Ben will be on Periscope at 11:30 AM ET.
Here are the most relevant players on the main slate (If you’re looking for injury news for the primetime slate, check out the primetime slate article) in danger of missing time or returning to action in Week 2:
Carolina Panthers @ Atlanta Falcons – 1:00pm ET
OUT for the Panthers: Greg Olsen
OUT for the Falcons: Keanu Neal and Deion Jones
Upgrade: Christian McCaffrey and Devin Funchess
McCaffrey averaged 2.4 more targets and 2 more catches per game with Olsen on the sideline in 2017 and he’s already one of the most dynamic pass-catching RBs in the game. His upside is tremendous in this game, especially since the Falcons’ defense is missing two key starters. Funchess is on the tournament radar as well.
OUT for the Falcons: Devonta Freeman
OUT for the Panthers: Thomas Davis
Upgrade: Tevin Coleman
Coleman has averaged 19.3 touches in three games without Freeman. Especially with Davis still suspended for the Panthers, Coleman is now one of the best plays of the week based on projected opportunity and affordable salary. The Falcons are also home favorites.
OUT for the Panthers: Trai Turner, Matt Kalil, and Daryl Williams
Upgrade: Falcons Defense
This Panthers’ offensive line is currently a complete mess. There is just no way you can start any Panthers player with confidence outside of Christian McCaffrey since the lack of quality OL play should contribute to more dump off passes.
