It’s a great time of the season to start spotting trends, team tendencies, and integrate specific WR/CB matchups into your DFS process. While this is only a piece of the puzzle, this tool allows you to better value ceiling-type plays for elite WRs and who can run circles around their opponent.

I break up this WR/CB article into a couple of categories: Alpha WRs, Slot Mavens, Discount Target Specials, and Full-On Fades. The goal is to go from the top-tier stars to move down to bargain WRs with excellent matchups. As always, make sure you use the tools found in the DFS Pass such as the Value Comparison and Buzz Report to discern which WR would be best in cash and tournament lineup builds.

Alpha WRs

It’s time to start recognizing that Ja’Marr Chase already is an elite WR. The deep targets are going to continue to be a thing and while Burrow was pitiful last year in that department, the efficiency this year is something that needs to be championed. Burrow is completing 72 percent of his passes and the Lions are a matchup worth taking advantage of. They’ve allowed the highest rate of 20+ targets in the NFL and the 6th highest expected points per pass attempt. Chase is splitting up his time (LWR- 43%, SWR- 24%, LWR 32%) which is great but also the Lions are trying to piece it together. Outside CBs Jerry Jacobs and Amani Oruwariye are getting torched. Oruwariye has allowed the most receptions and yards on the team including a 100+ yard outing from Chase’s former LSU teammate Justin Jefferson last week.
