NFL DFS First Look at DraftKings Salaries for Week 14 (Fantasy Football)
Every week the First Look article gives you a taste of the slate and some of the more intriguing salaries that DraftKings and FanDuel release. The goal is to identify early-week cash game considerations, as well as potential tournament plays before we piece together the stacking options. On Tuesdays, I share some of these insights on the Fantasy Footballers DFS & Betting Podcast if you want further commentary on some of the salary standouts.
Check back later in the week when Matthew Betz and I share our official DraftKings and FanDuel picks for cash and GPPs exclusively in the DFS Pass.
Here are the games for this week’s main slate* including team-implied totals (TIP) for each matchup.
Overview
For newcomers, the main slate for DFS includes the Sunday early (1:00 EST) and afternoon games (4:05 EST). At first glance, here are a couple of things to note:
- Off the Main Slate: GB/DET, LAC/KC, CIN/DAL
- Bye Week Teams: BAL, DEN, HOU, IND, NE, WAS
- The heavy-hitting games this week are in the primetime slates. However, we do have a healthy number of games (6) currently sitting between 45-49 on the main slate. Historically, identifying which one of these “tweener” games goes off can be the key to unlocking a slate for tournament purposes.
Quarterbacks
- Josh Allen ($8000) is a legend with his iconic snow stretching TD reception. If I was a Bills fan, that photo is getting framed/printed/tattoed in whatever way possible. The Bills carry the 2nd highest team implied total (26.5) of the week riding a seven game winning streak into a road matchup with the Rams. At his salary, Allen needs to hit 24+ points to 3x on his salary, something he’s done only five times this year. 28+ points is where you start cooking in a tournament and he’s only crossed that threshold three times and none of them came on the road.
- Jalen Hurts ($7800) is 6-2 as a double-digit favorite as a starter with six of those games hitting the over. As a 12-point home favorite, there is a lot to love about the Eagles but the top options are quite expensive. It feels like you have to choose your own adventure considering how Hurts or Saquon gets there.
