Building winning GPP lineups is tough by definition. However, there are a few key things to look for when filling out your roster. First and foremost is ceiling. We want players with the potential to score the most points. Next is leverage. We want the players who can take advantage of what the rest of the field is doing. Finally, we have to build a lineup that tells a winning story through game script and stacking.

Every week in this article, I will highlight my favorite FanDuel GPP picks at each position for the main slate of games. It won’t be an exhaustive list, but it aims to give you a starting point and a way of thinking as you build your tournament lineups. But don’t stop here. As Sunday kickoff approaches, make sure to utilize all of the other articles and tools from the amazing team that contributes to the DFS Pass.

With four weeks of data behind us, let’s dive into Week 5.

Note: You should always check out the Cash Picks article that Julia Papworth puts out. This week it features a heavy dose of Lions and Cardinals, as it is by far the best projected game environment on the slate. I will detail some of the lower-rostered players from that matchup, but don’t be afraid to feature some of the chalkier plays.

Quarterbacks

Brock Purdy @ SEA – $8,300

If you haven’t been paying attention, you might not realize that Purdy is quietly the QB2 overall so far this season. The matchup with Seattle is getting overshadowed by DET-ARI, but it is arguably the next best game environment on the slate, featuring a 3.5 Game Pace Score. He is an efficiency machine, leading the league in EPA per dropback (+0.50), success rate (61.9%), and, of course, TD rate (9.7%). He will certainly be buried behind Jared Goff and Jacoby Brissett in roster percentage, and the optimizer currently projects him as the ninth most popular QB. With top-tier efficiency, a strong game environment, and projected ownership outside the top eight QBs, Purdy is an easy player to get overweight on in GPPs.
