For Week 1, there’s never a better time to integrate specific WR/CB matchups into your DFS process. While this is only a piece of the puzzle, this tool allows you to better value ceiling-type plays for elite WRs and who can run circles around their opponent.

I break up this WR/CB article into a couple of categories: Alpha WRs, Slot Mavens, Discount Target Specials, and Full-On Fades. The goal is to go from the top-tier stars to move down to bargain WRs with excellent matchups. As always, make sure you use the tools found in the DFS Pass such as the Value Comparison and Buzz Report to discern which WR would be best in cash and tournament lineup builds.

Alpha WRs

The Vikings are just a 3-point favorite (albeit on the road) against the Bengals. It feels like that’s not enough. Beyond Dalvin Cook being an obvious play, Justin Jefferson ($7,700-DK, $7,800-FD) is set up to feast and it doesn’t really matter who is covering him. Journeyman Eli Apple is on his 4th team and the Bengals play a ton of Cover 1. Essentially, they’re asking Apple (or CB Chidobe Awuzie) to play man with only one safety helping over the top. But Jefferson’s skill set isn’t just as the deepest level of the field as he had the 5th most receiving yards in the intermediate level of the field. In man coverage, he led all WRs in yards per route run. Jefferson is a tournament play and leverage point on Cook coming in sub-5 percent currently in our roster percentage projections. Sign me up!
