Before we get into the specifics of this matchup and how to approach it for the DraftKings showdown slate, I want to point people back to a few pieces of evergreen content that I think are extremely valuable if you’re serious about winning showdown all season. I’d recommend reading/listening to this content before proceeding, especially if you’re new to showdown.

Game Outlook

Week 3 kicks off with a Thursday night matchup between the 2-0 49ers and the 1-1 Giants in a game featuring an uninspiring 44.5 point total. Perhaps even more uninspiring if you’re a Giants fan is the fact that they’re 10-point road underdogs and down their best offensive weapon, Saquon Barkley.

In two weeks, San Francisco is averaging 6.3 yards per play (2nd best) and 30 points per game (3rd). Obviously, with their 27.3 team implied total, leaning into the San Francisco side of this matchup makes a ton of sense. As for the Giants “defense” if you can even call it that, they’ve been one of the worst units in football. We saw them get boat raced by Dallas in Week 1 and in Week 2 the Cardinals moved the ball efficiently, averaging 6.3 yards per play while scoring 28 points. On the young season, the G-Men rank 29th in PFF defensive grade and 28th in EPA.
