It’s tough sledding this week on the waiver wire and the wide receiver position, that is usually robust, is pretty thin. However, there are still some options you can target to help cover in case of byes and injury concerns.
Let’s start off with some veteran players that are returning from injury or a bye. T.Y. Hilton made a big splash in the Colts offense with four receptions on four targets for 80 yards. He didn’t log a touchdown, but it’s only a matter of time before he finds the end zone. However, his status will need to be monitored as he exited with an injury. The Jets have had a week to figure out what is going on in their offense. Jamison Crowder had a great debut, but slumped in their trip to London. Still, he is one of those players who knows how to get it done, no matter who is in at quarterback.
Marquez Callaway should be a pick up coming off of their bye as well as a smash game the week before. They are facing Seattle, who has been bleeding points to opposing teams. Pairing him with QB Jameis Winston could be a sneaky stack for Week 7. The Saints also face Tampa Bay in Week 8, which is another great matchup for both players.

Don’t let the long list of names at the running back position fool you into thinking there are great options for Week 7. Despite the numerous choices, most of them are not great unless you absolutely have to roster and start a warm body.
Nick Chubb has been ruled out for Week 7 and Kareem Hunt will also miss some time with a calf injury. That leaves D’Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton and as the remaining running backs in the run-heavy offense of the Cleveland Browns. Technically speaking, Felton is considered the pass-catching back while Johnson should see the early down work, but that is really conjecture until we see what they do on the field. Either way, with six teams on a bye and a ton of injuries to contend with, you may be forced to start one of these backs.
Rhamondre Stevenson of the Patriots is only 24% rostered, and has surprisingly emerged as the pass-catching back with James White out for the season. Rookie QB Mac Jones looked his way in the passing game three times and Stevenson turned those into three receptions for 39 yards. He could be a very interesting addition to your roster if the trend of his receiving work continues, particularly in the red zone.
Another name that surprised last week was RB Chris Evans of the Bengals. Granted, Samaje Perine was on the COVID-19 reserve list and is ahead of him in the depth chart. However, Evans made a strong case to become the pass-catching RB2 in Cincinnati’s offense with three receptions on three targets for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Tight Ends
Team | Player | Roster % | Upcoming |
ARI | Zach Ertz | 72% | vs HOU vs GB @ SF |
WAS | Ricky Seals-Jones | 39% | @ GB @ DEN BYE |
SF | Ross Dwelley | 4% | vs IND @ CHI vs ARI |
IND | Mo Alie-Cox | 9% | @ SF vs TEN vs NYJ |
PIT | Pat Freiermuth | 17% | BYE @ CLE vs CHI |
The two big names at the tight end position that should be waiver wire targets are Zach Ertz and Ricky Seals-Jones. Ertz has found in a new home in Arizona in their high-flying offense and he will replace the injured Maxx Williams. He is likely already rostered, but it’s worth a look, just in case.
Ricky Seals-Jones has been getting the targets with Curtis Samuel sidelined with injury. There is the possibility to exploit Green Bay, but he is getting targets out of necessity in that offense.
If you somehow have the room, a speculative stash is the Steelers’ TE Pat Freiermuth. He seems to be emerging as Ben Roethlisberger’s go-to after Diontae Johnson now that JuJu Smith-Schuster is out for the season. Even though it was Eric Ebron who benefitted from the touchdown against the Seahawks, it might just be Freiermuth moving forward if he can keep the trust he is building with Big Ben.
