The Patriots are starting to heat up at the right time and rookie QB Mac Jones is getting it done through the air. He has been relying on several wide receivers including Kendrick Bourne, who scored two touchdowns on five receptions and 61 yards. We are in the stage of the season where it’s nearly impossible to find high-volume guys, but Bourne has been getting the looks in key moments for touchdowns. They have a very tough schedule against Buffalo twice and Indianapolis, but don’t put anything by Bill Belichick down the stretch for the playoffs.

DeSean Jackson continues to be a dynamic playmaker no matter which team he plays for. On three receptions, he had a whopping 102 yards and a touchdown and has immediately filled the void that Henry Ruggs left behind. He is a boom or bust wide receiver, but his boom games have the potential to be giant. QB Derek Carr looks for him to stretch the field and he should see plenty of opportunity to do so against Washington and then in the possible shootout in Week 14 against the Chiefs.

Taylor Heinicke of the Washington Football Team has been doing everything he possibly can to manufacture wins. In their victory over the Seahawks last night, it felt like we heard WR DeAndre Carter’s name on nearly every play. He logged four receptions on five targets for 42 yards, rushed once for four yards, and plays a big role on special teams with a combined four punt and kick returns for 51 yards. Carter is a deeper play, but could be another sneaky point machine against the Raiders in Week 13.

Last week was abysmal for options at the running back position, but this week is less bleak due to the unfortunate injuries to starting players. First and foremost, if Chuba Hubbard is available, pick him up.  Ameer Abdullah (now with the Panthers) could be a sneaky add as well. Also, snag Alexander Mattison and Jamaal Williams. Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has a torn labrum from a dislocated shoulder in Week 12 and will miss at least two weeks while D’Andre Swift is considered day-to-day with a shoulder injury.

With Jordan Howard out for Week 12 and Miles Sanders finally back from injury, it was Boston Scott who had 15 carries for 64 yards and touchdown, because Miles Sanders exited in the second half with an ankle injury. Scott’s numbers could have been even higher had the game script been more positive for Philadelphia. Both Sanders and Howard could be back for this week’s game. They have an excellent upcoming schedule, with the exception of a Week 14 Bye. They will face the Jets in Week 13 and Washington in Week 15.

If you have some wiggle room by some miracle or are looking ahead to Week 14, Dontrell Hilliard has been the real deal on the field for the Titans. Normally a preseason and special teams option, Hilliard has had two big games behind D’Onta Foreman in the backfield. A good chunk of those points are in the return game, much like Carter of Washington FT. He carried the ball 12 times for 131 yards and touchdown last week but he also saw 10 targets in Week 11. Their schedule looks nice after their Week 13 bye, facing the Jaguars, Steelers, and the 49ers.

Injuries weren’t confined to the running back position. Beloved Darren Waller luckily avoided a serious knee last Thursday, but he did strain his IT band. He is expected to miss time so TE2 for the Raiders, Foster Moreau, is an option based on opportunity and matchups. There is no replacement for Waller, that’s just the reality, but you can at least have some points until he returns.

The Bears QB situation isn’t ideal, but one constant in the offense has been TE Cole Kmet. he doesn’t have the big splash plays, but he quietly gets the job done no matter who is under center. He saw a season-high 11 targets in Week 12 with eight receptions and 65 yards. Chicago will take on Houston, New England, and Arizona over the next three weeks.

Finally, as much as this will pain Jason Moore, “baby hands” Jack Doyle might just be a viable option at tight end, especially in deeper leagues. He saw a season-high in targets, receptions, and yards in Week 12 and scored his third touchdown of the season against the Buccaneers. If Carson Wentz and the Colts insist on blowing early leads and taking each game down the wire, adding pieces in their passing game could work. This also holds true for WR T.Y. Hilton (nicknamed T.Y. Houston because of his career dominance vs the Texans) as a boom or bust option. The Colts will take on Houston, New England, and Arizona so there are plenty of opportunities for Doyle and Hilton to see action in the end zone.

If you’re doing the TE dumpster dive this week, listen/watch The Fantasy Footballers discuss these options on today’s Week 13 Waivers show.
