Each week I will review and highlight the main happenings in the world of the Fantasy Footballers. For Week 1, after getting rested on Labor Day, the hype came to a crescendo on Thursday with the Tampa Bay/Dallas game and the collective cry heard round the world “It’s Football Time!”

Monday

Our Footballers were off enjoying a Labor Day with their families!

Tuesday- Super Bowl Picks + Newsapalooza, Proof of Abs

It is the last Tuesday before football, and Andy, Mike, and Jason jumped right into the show with their Super Bowl predictions. Andy called the Rams against the Ravens, Jason called the Rams vs. the Bills, and Mike thinks it will be the Packers and the Chiefs. After the annual “predict the future” segment, they moved on to Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire, where Myles Gaskin and Nyheim Hines were discussed. Next up was News and Notes – talk of Mark Andrews’ contract extension and Justice Hill’s torn Achilles, in addition to a plethora of miscellaneous injury news. Next comes the mailbag! Today it included some sit/start questions, FAAB waiver tips (hint, pick up defenses a week early), and whether putting an RB or a WR in the flex spot is most advantageous to your lineup. An update to the foot clan – the week one website changeover is currently taking place, and with it comes the week one rankings, the Start/Sit tool, and many more.

Wednesday- Undrafted Gems + TNF Preview, Week 1 Hype!

Andy, Mike, and Jason opened Wednesday’s show with a three-prong Buy/Sell segment touching on Raheem Mostert, Corey Davis, and Logan Thomas and Week One expectations. Then on to News and Notes. This segment was packed with a hodgepodge of info, starting with the Latavius Murray release and ending with the Ravens signing Le’Veon Bell. After the news, the Footballers dug into Undrafted Gems. This was a segment highlighting players to keep an eye on. Pre-season trading was suggested here, doing a 2 for 1 transaction, opening a roster spot, and then holding one of these potential gems. Then they got to talk about football with the Thursday Night Breakdown. The Dallas Cowboys at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers contains a myriad of startable players, from two great QBs all the way down to TE. Football is so close we can taste it.

Thursday- Starts of the Week + Week 1 Breakdown, It’s Football Time!

It is finally football time, and we have a jam-packed show! The show kicks off with the Never Not Working segment that centered on rookie WRs. The biggest takeaway was that some of the best fantasy WRs in the past have been undrafted players; therefore, look at those late-round and undrafted WRs with an abundance of targeted routes. Next came News and Notes, with the biggest news being Austin Ekeler and his last-minute camp-string tweak and Curtis Samuel and his groin. After a few more injury notes, it was time for Fantasy Forecast. Six games were broken down today, starting with the Eagles at the Falcons, where there are plenty of people to start. After discussing five more games, Andy, Mike and Jason moved on to their starts of the week. Jason’s Boom-Boom Kicker brought the show to a close.

Friday- Week 1 Matchups + Zeke Tilt, Tony Tony!

It is the morning after the first NFL game of the season, and the Footballers got off to quite a start. After reflecting on Thursday night’s fantasy extravaganza that was the Cowboys at the Bucs, there was mourning of the loss of Gus Edwards in the News & Notes segment. Several other injuries and limited practice reports were mentioned, and then Andy, Mike, and Jason moved on to the Fantasy Forecast. Eight games were discussed, with several players labeled as a “wait, watch and see.” And with that, the Week One slate chat was wrapped up. Make sure to head over to jointhefoot.com to hear the “Injury Blitz” podcast with Mattew Betz to stay up to date with all the injuries and news.
