NFL Week 7 Weather Conditions (Fantasy Football)
Luckily, there are only six outdoor games remaining for Week 7, but the game in Denver has some unseasonably cold weather that came on suddenly. The first time I saw the forecast I thought “that can’t be right.” Sure enough. The Denver weather will go from upper 60s to low 20s within 24 hours. What a difference 24 hours makes!
I’ll also post any updates here on Sunday morning with a final update around 12:30 PM ET.
Catch ‘SUNDAY LIVE’ at Noon ET — Mike “The Fantasy Hitman” Wright will be answering start/sit questions, and covering injury updates for Week 7.

Fantasy Impact: We’re probably going to see some flurries, but the snow itself won’t be much of an issue. It’s probably not going to snow hard enough to accumulate especially since the ground will still be warm and Empower Field has heated pipes designed to keep the grass root zone around 60 degrees. The problem will be the cold especially when coupled with breezy conditions.
If there’s a kryptonite for Patrick Mahomes, it’s cold. His 7.4 yards per attempt in games played under 40 degrees over the past two years are well below his career average. He’s also thrown nine TDs compared to four interceptions in those games. This weather, from from ideal as it is, is nowhere near bad enough to do anything drastic with Mahomes. It was just last year that Mahomes went for 340 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a cold and snowy December matchup vs Denver. If you’re starting Mahomes, then you’re also starting Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. Where it gets more dicey is with Clyde Edwards-Helaire.
CEH has never played in a game nearly this cold. Worse, there hasn’t been time to acclimate since this temperature drop is so sudden and extreme. 20 degrees is sufficiently cold to shock someone born and raised in Louisiana and cause numbness in extremities. How well he adapts to the cold and elevation is anybody’s guess, but we know Le’Veon Bell will be syphoning off some touches. Don’t overreact and bench CEH in favor of a lesser player, but if you have a start/sit debate between CEH and another player, I would err on the side of caution.
The Denver offense has little to be excited about. Drew Lock has been absolutely pedestrian for fantasy with the exception of his sole 300-yard game in Week 14 against Houston last year. Denver has missed Courtland Sutton with Tim Patrick‘s 310 yards leading the Denver WR corps. The return of Noah Fant may be huge for Denver’s offense, where the winds and cold will make it difficult to hit downfield targets. The Denver RBs may also get a few more targets than normal if Denver needs to abandon the run game.
Harrison Butker and Brandon McManus have been solid this year, but kicking in these winds and the cold will be challenging.

Stupid advice. I have Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, and I screwed up playing Mahomes. BIG mistake. Don’t tell people to play receivers and Mahomes in crappy cold wet weather. Edwards- Helaire dicey? really? I wished I’d had him as a RB because I’d had played him. Use good RB’s during crappy weather. Plus, did you watch last weeks game? At all? All KC did was run the ball. Can I get a job doing this because I could give much better advice.
