NFL Week 7 Weather Conditions (Fantasy Football)

This is the time of year when great fantasy teams pull ahead and each week becomes critical for those teams sitting at three or four wins so any little edge can be a great help like paying attention to the weather. Luckily the weather is almost perfect this week, but we’re going to see very strong winds in Denver since I guess the injury to Russell Wilson and whatever half-baked coaching we’re going to get out of Nathaniel Hackett wasn’t enough. This game could be one of those “it’s so bad, it’s good” types.

Updates: 

New York Jets at Denver Broncos
Fantasy Impact: A bit of good news. The winds will be in excess of 20 mph at kickoff, but they’ll drop significantly by halftime to the 13-16 mph range. This is still a game without many good options, but Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Garrett Wilson, and Corey Davis could be in play if you’re in a pinch.

Chicago Bears at New England Patriots
Fantasy Impact: Light rain will persist throughout most of the game but should let up by around the fourth quarter. The rain won’t be hard enough to have a significant impact on the game though a wet ball can create issues with the grip.

Fantasy Impact: The over/under for this game is a Week 7 low of 37 and for good reason between the absence of key players and winds in excess of 20 mph sustained.

Brett Rypien will be filling in for an injured Russell Wilson, which would have made the Denver receiving options risky starts as is – these winds don’t help. Jerry Jeudy should be benched if he wasn’t already. Courtland Sutton should also be benched. Theoretically, the Denver RBs should see a lot of work but who knows what sort of splits we’re going to see. Brett Rypien has no value even in Superflex leagues.

The New York Jets side of the ball isn’t much better. Breece Hall deserves must-start treatment regardless of weather, but there isn’t a lot to like past him. Corey Davis has been the preferred target of late, but this won’t be the game to make him a “hero start.” Garret Wilson and Denzel Mims should stay on benches. Zach Wilson will only return a good fantasy day if he does a ton of damage on the ground. It’s possible, but Wilson’s a borderline start even in superflex leagues.
