Marcus Mariota, QB (WAS)

Poised to practice this week

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Monday that Mariota (knee) is on track to return to practice this week, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.

Mariota was unavailable for the Commanders' past two games due to a sprained MCL in his right knee, but the veteran quarterback benefited from the team's Week 7 bye and could be back in the mix for Sunday's contest against the Eagles. Athan Kaliakmanis has been filling in as Jayden Daniels' understudy but will drop to third on the depth chart once Mariota is cleared to play.

Added opportunities likely following bye

Coach Dan Quinn noted Monday that with Terry McLaurin (knee) out for the season, Stefon Diggs' workload isn't expected to change much, however others, notably Williams, should see added opportunities in McLaurin's looming absence, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports.

Season-ending knee injury feared

McLaurin is slated to undergo an MRI on Tuesday after sustaining what the Commanders fear was a season-ending left knee injury in Monday's 23-17 loss to the 49ers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
