Week 9 DFS Injury Impact
Injuries and players missing time for other reasons are always a big deal in fantasy football but even more so in DFS where one player’s issues can completely alter an entire game and the next man up mantra becomes vital due to the salary cap nature of DFS. Thus, it’s important to stay on top of all the injury and suspension news before locking in your DFS lineups.
Editor’s note: DFS Pass buyers and #FootClan members will receive a “Gameday Alerts” email, one hour before the main kickoff on Sunday and Ben will be on Periscope at 11:30 AM ET.
Here are the most relevant players on the main slate (If you’re looking for injury news for the primetime slate, check out the primetime slate article) in danger of missing time or returning to action in Week 9:
Los Angeles Rams @ New Orleans Saints – 4:25pm ET
IN for the Rams: Cooper Kupp
Upgrade: Cooper Kupp
Players returning from injury are always lower owned than they otherwise would be and that makes them solid tournament targets if the situation makes sense. That’s exactly what we have here as Kupp is a crucial piece to one of the best offenses in football playing in the best fantasy game of the week with a current Over/Under of 60 points. Kupp has averaged seven targets per game on a Rams team that ranks second in yards per game and third in points per game. And the matchup couldn’t be much better as Kupp gets to face a Saints defense that ranks 28th in passing yards allowed per game and 29th in Pass DVOA.
OUT for the Saints: Ted Ginn
Upgrade: Tre’Quan Smith
Tre’Quan has gone silent over the Saints past two games but let’s remember Week 5, shall we? Smith showed us what his upside is in this Saints offense that day, catching all three of his targets for 111 yards and 2 TDs. Smith doesn’t need a ton of targets in this offense to post a huge day because he is the Ted Ginn deep downfield replacement. And this is a favorable fantasy game with a current 60 point Over/Under that could unlock some more big plays from Tre’Quan. The Rams have shown vulnerability to opposing passing offenses as of late as well.
