Week 17 Vegas Report
New Orleans Saints -7 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (50.0)
The Saints are already locked into a playoff spot, but with a win they will clinch the NFC South. New Orleans has been led by the best running back duo in the league, and a defense that has been pretty consistent this season. It’s resulted in some unusual numbers for Drew Brees. The Saints’ QB has averaged 656 passing attempts over his last seven seasons, and enters this week with 506 passing attempts, his lowest mark since 514 in 2009. His 4,388 passing yards that season was his lowest total in 11 years with New Orleans. It was a good year for the Saints, though, as they won the Super Bowl, and that season is looking a lot like year 12 in New Orleans for Brees. He will likely pass his attempts total from 2009, but he’ll need 300 yards Sunday to avoid his lowest passing yard total over his career in New Orleans. His 70.6 completion percentage that season, was the second-best showing of his career, and he enters this week with a 71.9 mark, which would be an NFL record if it sticks past Sunday. Tampa Bay has allowed the most yards in football, and the most passing yards. They’ve also lost seven straight games with Jameis Winston under center.
