Thursday Night DraftKings Showdown: Week 1
Football is in the air. The Bears and Packers kick it off for the first Thursday Night Football game of the NFL regular season. I’ll be bringing this Thursday night preview each week breaking down this single-game slate for DraftKings contests as part of the Footballers’ DFS Pass.
Vegas currently has the Over/Under set at 46. With 16 total games in Week 1, this contest falls smack dab in the middle of projected points as seven games currently have higher over/unders posted. That’s fair, as this competitive Divisional clash between two good teams with solid defenses should bring good football, but not necessarily fireworks on the scoreboard.
The Bears are at home and return the majority of their starters to a defensive unit that ranked #1 in the league in points allowed (17.7) last season. And while the Packers didn’t find the same success stopping offenses in 2018, they did devote their offseason to improving that side of the ball signing Adrian Amos, Za’Darius Smith, and Preston Smith in Free Agency and drafting two first-round defensive players: Rashan Gary and Darnell Savage.
Defenses and Kickers aren’t always good plays in this format. However, game flow here does put both defenses on our radar.
