NFL DFS: Best Plays for Week 1 (Fantasy Football)
Each week we will review some of the content found in the DFS Pass and discuss some of our most confident plays heading into Sunday. A lot can change over the weekend, especially with injury news (See Betz’s Injury Blitz podcast) and roster percentages shifting who is in-or-out before roster lock time. Let’s review.

Locked-In Cash Plays
Borg – The price tag may seem intimidating but this is a cheaper tag for Tyreek Hill than we are used to paying. He has crushed in Week 1 historically and in a game environment approaching 50, I want to build in ceiling outcomes even in cash. His receiving line (98.5) is ridiculously high except when you realize what he’s done in his career:
- 2016: 14% snaps, 1 touch… but scores a TD.
- 2017: 7/133/1
- 2018: 7/169/2
- 2019: 18% snaps, gets injured
- 2020: 5/46/1
- 2021: 11/197/1
- 2022: 8/94/0
- 2023: 11/215/2
Ignore the price knowing there is value at the QB position and $6K RBs that allow you to stomach his tag.
Betz – Yoshi szn! Andrei Iosivas was already on our radar as a pure punt play ($3,000) before we got the Tee Higgins news. Higgins (hamstring) is doubtful while Ja’Marr Chase’s (contract) status is up in the air. Either way, there’s a path for Yoshi to play an every down role with Joe Burrow. By playing him in cash, it unlocks the rest of your lineup.
DraftKings Core Plays
These are the 3-5 players at each position we have mixed in our cash player pool. Based on salaries, late news, and budget constraints, it is guaranteed you will not be able to fit in all of them. But their high floors and team-implied totals make them great plays for the week in both cash & GPPs.
These are simply in order of favorite core players. You obviously won’t be able to fit all in a cash lineup and there are salary tradeoffs for paying up at each position.

It’s very close for us between Anthony Richardson, who led all QBs in fantasy points per drop back a year ago, and Kyler Murray, he averages over 20 fantasy points per game in his healthy starts over the course of his career. Both guys can run and have great weapons at their disposal in game environments we like.
NOTE – Russell Wilson is listed Questionable with a calf injury. If he’s ruled out, Justin Fields ($5,000) would become our top cash game QB on the slate.
